Role Summary
The Sales Development Representative will be responsible for identifying and qualifying prospective customers, primarily customs brokers and freight forwarders, to build a strong pipeline for our senior sales team. You will reach out to target companies, engage them in discovery conversations, and schedule introductory meetings with decision-makers.
This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, persuasive, and eager to grow in the global trade and logistics industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Research target companies and contacts based on Portways ideal customer profile
- Conduct outbound outreach via email, phone, and LinkedIn to generate new leads
- Qualify inbound and outbound leads based on needs, interest, and decision-making authority
- Book meetings and demos for senior sales team members
- Maintain accurate records in CRM (HubSpot or similar) and manage follow-up cadences
- Collaborate with marketing to provide feedback on lead quality and campaign effectiveness
- Stay informed on industry trends in customs brokerage, freight forwarding, and logistics
Qualifications
- 1–2 years of experience in sales, business development, or lead generation (preferred)
- Strong communication skills in English—both written and spoken
- Confidence making cold calls and conducting email outreach
- Familiarity with CRM tools and lead research techniques
- Interest in global trade, logistics, or customs is a plus
