Ship/Marine EngineerOverview: As a Ship/Marine Engineer, your role is vital to the functioning of a maritime vessel. You will be responsible for the design, construction, installation, operation, and maintenance of the ship's mechanical and electrical systems. Your expertise ensures the safety and efficiency of the vessel's propulsion, power generation, and other onboard systems. You will collaborate closely with the ship's crew, naval architects, and suppliers to ensure smooth operations.Key Responsibilities:
  • Designing, testing, and overseeing the installation of ship machinery and related systems.
  • Conducting regular inspections and maintenance to ensure the vessel's compliance with safety regulations.
  • Analyzing and resolving technical issues related to propulsion, power generation, and auxiliary systems.
  • Collaborating with naval architects and overseeing construction or repairs of the vessel.
  • Managing and overseeing the work of engineering and technical staff.
  • Developing project plans, budgets, and timelines for ship engineering projects.
  • Providing technical guidance and support to the ship's crew.
  • Conducting risk assessments and implementing safety protocols.
  • Keeping abreast of technological advancements and industry best practices
  • Implementing environmental and sustainability measures related to ship operations.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in ship or marine engineering.
  • Thorough knowledge of marine propulsion, power generation, and auxiliary systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and other engineering tools.
  • Strong understanding of maritime regulations and classification society rules.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Project management experience.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and environmental standards in the maritime industry.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritize tasks.
  • Experience with risk assessment and management.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required.
