Job Purpose: The Maintenance Engineer - Cement Mills is responsible for conducting regular inspections, executing preventive maintenance, and supporting shutdown activities for Cement Mills. This role ensures the operational readiness of critical equipment, focuses on maintaining reliability and availability, and adheres to safety and compliance standards. The position also contributes to continuous improvement initiatives and ensures accurate reporting and documentation of maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

Equipment Inspection & Monitoring:

Perform regular inspections of Cement Mill equipment, identifying and addressing potential issues through routine walk-by checks and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs).

Ensure the operational readiness of critical equipment, such as the roller press, ball mill, and vertical roller mill, through proactive monitoring and timely intervention.

Preventive Maintenance Execution:

Execute preventive maintenance requests (PMRs) for Cement Mills, coordinating with the maintenance and production teams to minimize disruptions and ensure optimal equipment performance.

Focus on maintaining key components, including belt conveyors, bucket elevators, and separators, ensuring adherence to the preventive maintenance schedule.

Reliability & Availability Management:

Work towards expanding the Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) of Cement Mills on a 12-month rolling basis by ensuring the reliability of equipment and minimizing downtime.

Collaborate with the Section Head - Cement Mills to implement strategies aimed at increasing the Net Availability Index (NAI) for the Cement Mills.

Shutdown Support & Execution:

Provide technical support during Cement Mills shutdowns, ensuring the proper execution of tasks such as liner replacements, conveyor maintenance, and DBC inspections.

Participate in the planning and execution of major and minor shutdowns, ensuring that all maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and within the scheduled time frame.

Safety & Compliance:

Adhere to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and compliance with the work permit system, to ensure a safe working environment during maintenance activities.

Ensure that all maintenance tasks comply with company safety and environmental standards, contributing to the reduction of LTIFR and the achievement of safety targets.

Spare Parts Management:

Assist in managing the inventory of spare parts for Cement Mills maintenance, ensuring the availability of critical components while minimizing excess inventory.

Coordinate with the Preventive Maintenance Planner to align spare parts inventory with planned maintenance activities and emergency repairs.

Continuous Improvement & Best Practices:

Contribute to the continuous improvement of Cement Mills maintenance practices by providing feedback on equipment performance and suggesting enhancements to maintenance processes.

Participate in the implementation of best practices in Cement Mills maintenance, focusing on reducing operational costs and improving equipment efficiency.

Reporting & Documentation:

Maintain accurate records of daily inspections, preventive maintenance activities, and equipment performance, ensuring that all documentation is up-to-date and accessible.

Prepare and submit reports on maintenance activities, including details on completed tasks, equipment reliability, and any issues encountered during maintenance.

Collaboration & Communication:

Work closely with the Cement Mills production team to ensure that maintenance activities are aligned with production schedules and do not disrupt operations.

Communicate effectively with the Section Head - Cement Mills and other stakeholders, providing updates on maintenance progress and any potential challenges.

Qualifications

Education Qualification:

BE in Mechanical Engineering.

Work Experience:

5+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance, with specific expertise in Cement Mills and related equipment in the cement or heavy manufacturing industry.

Industry Knowledge:

Strong knowledge of Cement Mills operations, preventive and predictive maintenance practices, and shutdown management, with a focus on maintaining equipment reliability and optimizing maintenance processes.
