Job Purpose:
To ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable RBI regulations, circulars, and guidelines pertaining to the SME business, and work closely with Product team to design, implement, and monitor internal control frameworks that mitigate regulatory, operational, and reputational risks.

Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance (RBI-Specific)

  • Monitor and interpret RBI circulars, notifications, and guidelines applicable to SME lending
  • Ensure timely implementation of new regulatory requirements
  • Maintain a compliance checklist/calendar for SME-related regulatory timelines
  • Periodic checking of compliance checklist in related to the portfolio, work internally or with vendors to ensure compliance of the portfolio to the reg
  • Coordinate with Compliance and Legal teams for interpretation and applicability of new/existing guidelines
  • Work with Reporting team to ensure automation and timely returns, reports, or certifications required by RBI specific to the SME vertical
  • Review product notes, policy changes, and process documentation from a regulatory compliance lens

Internal Controls

  • Periodic review of SME processes to identify gaps and control weaknesses
  • Design, document, and test key internal controls related to credit underwriting, disbursements, monitoring, and collections in the SME segment. Maintain E2E Risk Framework document
  • Conduct internal control assessments and ensure closure of open issues/findings from audits (internal, statutory, regulatory)
  • Work closely with the SME Product, operations, credit, and technology teams to embed controls in system workflows and SOPs
  • Develop and monitor key risk indicators (KRIs) and early warning signals

Audit & Inspection Coordination

  • Act as SME business point of contact for internal audits, concurrent audits, RBI inspections, etc
  • Coordinate timely response to audit observations, prepare management action plans, and track closures
  • Work closely with IBG COO on governance / risk control matters

Training & Awareness

  • Conduct regular training and awareness sessions for SME front-line and support teams on regulatory expectations and internal controls
  • Provide updates on regulatory changes and their implications for business practices

  • Analytical and problem-solving mindset
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Eye for detail and commitment to compliance integrity
