Design Engineer Skills, Education & Responsibilities

Educational Qualification

- Bachelors Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Experience

- 13 Years of experience in Design Engineering.

Required Software Skills

- Proficiency in SolidWorks (2D drafting, 3D modeling, assembly, sheet metal, routing).

- Hands-on experience with AutoCAD for layouts and drafting.

- Familiarity with MS Office Suite for documentation and reporting.

Required Skills

- Strong knowledge of plant design, equipment layout, and piping design.

- Ability to prepare detailed engineering drawings and manufacturing drawings.

- Basic engineering calculations and formulas.

- Unit conversions (SI, Metric, and Imperial units).

- Understanding of material selection and fabrication processes.

- Knowledge of industry design standards and practices.

- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

- Good communication skills for coordination with cross-functional teams.

- Ability to support project execution within timelines.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare 2D & 3D models for equipment, piping layouts, and plant layouts.

- Develop detailed drawings, manufacturing documents, and Bill of Materials (BOMs).

- Design electrical panels using sheet metal functionality in SolidWorks.

- Collaborate with process engineers, fabricators, and site teams for smooth execution.

- Ensure compliance with quality standards, specifications, and timelines.

- Provide technical support during fabrication, installation, and commissioning.

- Participate in design reviews and client/vendor coordination.
