Designs, develops, modifies, adapts and implements short- and long-term solutions to technology needs through new and existing applications, systems architecture, network systems and applications infrastructure. Reviews system requirements and business processes; codes, tests, debugs, documents and implements software solutions. Provides application software development services typically in a defined project. Develops program logic for new applications or analyzes and modifies logic in existing applications. Ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented. May test new software code and typically works in a highly efficient ("Agile") development environment.

-Characterized by specific functional expertise typically gained through formal education
-May provide guidance to others as a project manager using technical expertise

-Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise
-Interprets internal or external business issues and recommends best practices
-Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions
-Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations
-May lead functional teams or projects
Functional Knowledge:
-Requires understanding and application of procedures and concepts within own discipline and basic knowledge of other disciplines
Business Expertise:
-Interprets internal/external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services
Leadership:
-May lead functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity
Problem Solving:
-Leads others to solve complex problems; uses sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgement and identify innovative solutions
Impact:
-Impacts the achievement of customer, operational, project or service objectives; work is guided by functional policies
Interpersonal Skills:
-Communicates difficult concepts and negotiates with others to adopt a different point of view
