Position overview:

Data governance is a combination of people, processes and technology that drives high-quality, high-value information. This ensures that data, processes, and people can be trusted and accountable, and that accurate information flows through the enterprise driving business efficiency.

As part of the Data Governance Team, the Data Governance/BIAnalystis responsible for reviewing information for accuracy and loading that information into the various Optimas data systems within agreed upon timeframe. Additionally, the analyst supports ad-hoc data/analytics requests. This role is critical to achieving corporate goals by establishing the correct system parameters that allow the company to effectively purchase, stock and sell parts.

Main responsibilities:

The Data Governance/BI Analyst will have responsibility of:

• Communicate effectively with all employees and stakeholders
• Understand the basic company workflow to determine if requests meet existing company guidelines and policies
• Review data submitted for accuracy and applicability and take action wherever needed
• Accurately enter approved data elements into the various Optimas data systems
• Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in work output
• Identifying ways to improve the availability and accuracy of data needed for analysis around the Optimas business
• Carry out necessary follow-ups to ensure closure of requests
• Ensure requests are completed on time and accurately
• Identifying red flags within data or processes and escalate where required
• Support on Ad-Hoc data requests
• Understand and communicate technical concept to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Creation of SQL script to seek out poor data and to work with stakeholders to correct this information

• Good Microsoft Office Excel skills
• Ability to use SQL to query complex datasets (desirable)
• Ability to work with large data sets and analyses, blend or summarize data to extract meaningful insights
• Highly motivated, high energy, 'can do' attitude, competitive self-starter with a strong sense of urgency
• Detail orientated
