The Site Reliability Engineer(SRE) will assist with ongoing maintenance and support of a cloud hosted application platform, assist with projects related to the setup of the application environment, and collaborate with internal and external customers to resolve data, connectivity and performance issues. The SRE is also required to assist with the build of new Application projects, support of the Development and QA departments as they work on hosted application models, and other application administration tasks.

Work experience/roles and responsibilities

  • Follow strict change control policies to inline with LSEG and client requirements.
  • Support, monitor, test and resolve issues reported by end-users
  • Handle critical incidents and problems with appropriate urgency
  • Participate in off-hours maintenance windows as needed to support a highly available application
  • Collaborate efficiently with Engineering, Client Support, Management, and Software Development groups
  • Document policies and procedures as they are defined and changed
  • Application setup and administration.
  • Being accountable for resolving the outage via workaround or permanent fix
  • Ensuring all administration and reports are maintained and up to date, including contacts information, technical diagrams, post major incident reviews.
  • Work closely with Problem Management to identify recurring or high-impacting incidents that requires further analysis and long-term solutions.
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving ability
  • Provide 24x7 on-call support within a team rotation.

Required Skills

  • Min 3-5 yrs experience as a Site Reliability engineer/Application Support engineer.
  • Minimum 2 + years of proven understanding of AWS Serverless Services – Lambda, SQS, API Gateway, Document DB, CloudWatch Insights, etc
  • Linux/windows sysadmin
  • Prior experience in Application support, Incident resolution and recovery a must have.
  • A detailed knowledge of Linux systems (e.g. RHEL) with regular use of Unix command line
  • Familiarity with Relational and NoSQL Databases on AWS.
  • Python / JavaScript scripting
  • Git & GitLab CICD
  • ITIL certification a plus

Good to have Skills

  • Programming (Python, JavaScript).
  • Datadog.
  • Support and administration on Kubernetes.

Educational qualification:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field

  • Linux Server System Administration across Enterprise Application environments
  • Analytical Problem-Solving
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to successfully support multiple projects/clients, time and resources
  • Effective communication skills; the ability to handle objections and counter feedback professionally as necessary
  • Ability to keep abreast of and learn new networking, systems and security technologies
  • Ability to work independently and with others
