Performance Engineer

Join us as a Performance Engineer at Barclays, where you will drive the evolution of our API First digital strategy, ensuring our platforms are robust, resilient, and optimized for high performance. You will leverage advanced performance engineering practices to deliver scalable, reliable, and secure solutions for our banking, trading, and insurance systems.
To be successful as a Performance Engineer, you must have:
- Deep hands-on experience in performance testing, including load, stress, and resilience testing
- Proven ability to model workloads and optimize system performance
- Proficiency with performance and resilience testing tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, and related frameworks
- Solid understanding of reliability engineering and non-functional requirements
- Experience with API performance testing and optimization
- Strong hands-on experience building and maintaining automation frameworks for performance testing
- Ability to design, implement, and execute automated regression suites for non-functional requirements
- Ability to troubleshoot failed automated performance tests and resolve framework issues independently
- Experience with test data management and test environment setup for automated performance testing
- Experience integrating automated performance tests into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar tools
- Experience with monitoring and observability solutions for performance analysis
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, OpenShift) and containerization technologies (Docker)
- Practical knowledge of test management tools including JIRA and test case management systems
- Good communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams and functions
- Experience working in Agile development environments
Some other highly valued skills may include:
- Strong domain knowledge in banking, trading, and insurance systems
- Exposure to microservices architecture and event-driven design patterns
- Knowledge of security testing concepts and tools
- Familiarity with release and change management processes
- Experience with visual testing tools and approaches
- Understanding of infrastructure as code concepts for test environments

The role is based out of Pune.
Purpose of the role
To design, develop, and execute testing strategies to validate functionality, performance, and user experience, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve defects, and continuously improve testing processes and methodologies, to ensure software quality and reliability.
Accountabilities
- Development and implementation of comprehensive test plans and strategies to validate software functionality and ensure compliance with established quality standards.
- Creation and execution automated test scripts, leveraging testing frameworks and tools to facilitate early detection of defects and quality issues. .
- Collaboration with cross-functional teams to analyse requirements, participate in design discussions, and contribute to the development of acceptance criteria, ensuring a thorough understanding of the software being tested.
- Root cause analysis for identified defects, working closely with developers to provide detailed information and support defect resolution.
- Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
- Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
