Position Title: Instrumentation EngineerDepartment: Maintenance / Wet ProcessingReporting To: Maintenance Head / Plant Engineering ManagerLocation: SIPCOT Industrial Park, PerunduraiType: Full-Time1. Job Purpose

To ensure the reliability, accuracy, and performance of all process instrumentation and control systems across the wet-processing section—dyeing, bleaching, finishing, utilities, and ZLD/ETP—thereby supporting product quality, production efficiency, energy optimization, and regulatory compliance.

2. Key Responsibilities2.1 Instrumentation Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Maintain all sensors, transmitters, controllers, actuators, flowmeters, control valves, and PLC/SCADA devices.
• Perform swift troubleshooting of instrumentation faults in jet/soft-flow dyeing machines, stenters, dryers, mercerizers, and continuous ranges.
• Ensure high availability of PID control loops for temperature, pressure, flow, pH, and chemical dosing.
• Minimize batch stoppages or shade variations caused by instrumentation issues.

2.2 Calibration & Quality Control

• Prepare and execute annual calibration plans for all critical instruments.
• Maintain calibration certificates for ISO, OEKO-TEX, customer audits, and statutory inspections.
• Ensure measurement accuracy for temperature, conductivity, pH, level, pressure, flow, and humidity sensors.

2.3 Utility & Safety Instrumentation

• Maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation for:
• Boilers, thermic-fluid heaters, air compressors, RO/UF, chillers.
• Safety interlocks, alarms, emergency shutdown systems.
• Ensure 100% compliance with safety and statutory norms.

2.4 ETP/ZLD Instrumentation & SCADA

• Ensure reliable functioning of pH meters, ORP analyzers, turbidity meters, flowmeters, DO analyzers, and online water-quality sensors.
• Maintain SCADA dashboards, alarm systems, and reporting mechanisms.
• Support environmental compliance as mandated by TNPCB and SIPCOT.

2.5 Process Optimization

• Work closely with production and quality teams to stabilize:
• Dyeing profiles
• Temperature ramping rates
• Chemical dosing accuracy
• Stenter zone temperature/humidity consistency
• Drive energy-saving and waste-reduction initiatives through better instrumentation control.

2.6 Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain breakdown logs, calibration records, control-loop tuning reports, and preventive maintenance documentation.
• Assist during internal and external audits.
• Prepare daily/weekly/monthly instrumentation performance dashboards.

2.7 Project Execution

• Lead instrumentation portions of new machine installations, control system upgrades, and automation projects.
• Coordinate with OEMs and vendors for system upgrades, commissioning, or service support.

2.8 Team Collaboration & Training

• Train machine operators and technicians on basic instrumentation care and first-level checks.
• Support cross-functional teams: production, maintenance, utilities, ETP, and QA.

3. Qualifications & Experience

• B.E./B.Tech in Instrumentation Engineering / EIE / EE / ECE (or Diploma with experience).
• 3–8 years experience in textile wet-processing plants (preferred).
• Hands-on experience with PLC/SCADA, VFDs, PID controllers, process automation.
• Strong troubleshooting skills in dyeing and finishing machine instrumentation.
