Role Overview

We are seeking a
Design Trainee (Telecom – OSP)
to support our growing
Telecom Design team
. This is an entry-level role designed for individuals looking to build a strong foundation in OSP (Outside Plant) design for FTTx projects. Under the guidance of senior engineers, you will contribute to network layouts, route planning, design documentation, and installation-ready drawing packages.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing outside-plant telecom networks (fiber/copper), including ducts/conduits, aerial and underground cabling, manholes/handholes, pedestals, poles, splice points, and terminations.
  • Support the preparation of design drawings and construction packages using AutoCAD, ARAMIS, and FTTx/FTTH/FTTP/FTTN design tools and databases.
  • Collaborate with senior designers, field teams, permitting/utility departments, and contractors to ensure design feasibility and compliance.
  • Learn to interpret civil and utility drawings along with telecom-specific design standards.
  • Participate in design reviews, revisions, and documentation updates.
  • Gradually take ownership of small to medium assignments as your proficiency grows.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of outside-plant telecom concepts such as fiber/copper cabling, conduit/duct systems, aerial and underground infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with (or willingness to learn) Google Earth, mapping tools, AutoCAD/GIS, and ARAMIS design platforms.
  • Eagerness to learn, adapt, and take on increasing responsibility under guidance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Telecommunications, Electrical, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Ability to understand FTTx/FTTH/FTTP/FTTN terminology and drafting practices.

Experience

  • 0–1 year of experience in telecommunications infrastructure design or related engineering fields.
  • Basic exposure to fiber/copper OSP concepts is an advantage.
