Role Overview

The Line Incharge – SPD 1 Mechanical Maintenance will be responsible for ensuring smooth mechanical operations, maintenance planning, and reliability improvement for SPD 1 lines including SGL, SHM-3 & 4, and PTF lines (5, 6 & 8). The role focuses on preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance, with strong emphasis on equipment uptime, safety, compliance, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

1. Equipment & Line Maintenance

• Oversee mechanical maintenance of Pull-Through Furnace, Slitting Line, Cold Rolling Mill, and Strip Grinding Line (SGL).
• Execute preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance (CBM) to enhance equipment reliability.
• Lead and supervise shutdown and breakdown maintenance activities with minimum downtime.
• Perform effective troubleshooting of mechanical faults and ensure timely rectification.

2. Technical Expertise

• Apply strong understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems in maintenance activities.
• Demonstrate sound knowledge of annealing processes, Cold Rolling Division processes, and detailed technical aspects of SGL operations.
• Ensure adherence to equipment technical specifications and operational standards.

3. Spare Management & Documentation

• Manage critical and consumable spares inventory, ensuring optimal stock availability.
• Maintain and update maintenance records, checklists, and equipment history.
• Ensure compliance with ISO documentation requirements and audit readiness.

4. Safety, Compliance & Process Improvement

• Monitor EOT crane maintenance and ensure safe and compliant operation.
• Implement best practices, Kaizens, and continuous improvement initiatives in maintenance operations.
• Ensure safe working practices and adherence to all safety protocols across the teams.

5. Team Leadership & Coordination

• Handle workforce allocation, skill development, and performance monitoring of maintenance manpower.
• Coordinate with production, electrical, instrumentation, and other cross-functional teams for smooth operation.
• Support planning and execution of shutdown schedules and equipment upgrades.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5–10 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in a steel/cold rolling/processing line environment.
• Hands-on experience with SGL, cold rolling mills, PTF, SHM, or related equipment preferred.
