Duties and Responsibilities of AVP-Operations (Factory Head):
Overall Activities
To have the Operations Head, Engineering Head and Commercial Head all reporting to him, and to watch their work closely. Make sure that they are working well and to give them guidance wherever they require. To also point out areas for them to improve in their day to day working.
To directly handle plant PPC and Technical Monitoring wings and to take direct reporting from them to ensure everything in the plant is working well. Also to ensure that raw material planning, despatch planning and inventory control is controlled tightly.
To ensure that all workers and staff are working with proper discipline and within the norms of the company. To take action on any person who is lacking. To remove poor performers from the unit.
To ensure follow up and escalate any matters that are pending to VP (Operations) / President / ED / MD if he is not able to resolve it directly. But try to resolve independently first.
To ensure all of Commercial / Admin activities are functioning well Admin, Security, HR, Liaison, IT, Accounts, Purchase, Shipping, Logistics & By-Products. To get work done through the concerned team members and monitor their performance.
Operational Management:
- Manage day-to-day operations and all activities of the plant
- Ensuring that production targets are met and that there is adherence to SOPs and operational KPIs (e.g., yield, efficiency, OEE). While production should increase, so should yield and efficiency.
- See that quality standards are maintained. Oversee quality management systems and ensure product meets required specifications and certifications (ISO, BIS, etc.). Monitor the quality complaints and take action on the repeated complaints. The complaints should be resolved in the minimum time required.
- Ensure break downs are minimised. Also to keep a watch on the quality of maintenance being done and that proper preventive maintenance schedules are followed.
- To oversee the consumption items and take action against deviations wrt set standards. To bring the cost of manufacturing down.
- To keep a special watch on the consumption of scrap and push foundry team to consume maximum scrap .
- To work towards reducing the manual records and digitalize them to save manpower in maintaining the data.
General Administration:
- To maintain discipline on the shopfloor and ensure that there is no work shirking or excess manpower anywhere.
- To keep a watch on staff and worker's activities through his team and ensure that there are no anti company elements in the organisation.
- Oversee security protocols and procedures to safeguard machineries, including physical security measures and data protection.
- Stay updated with industry best practices and technological advancements related to facility management and administration, implementing relevant strategies and initiatives.
Talent Management and Team Building:
- To monitor the requirement of unit staff and ensure that the vacancies are filled without any delay.
- Monitor the requirements of workers in the shop floor and arrange for their appointment through various sources.
- Coordinate with HR head on the plant's Human resource's function, including recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, Operations, compensation & benefits and employee relations.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to plant's operation, manufacturing, quality and cost and take corrective actions as necessary to meet targets.
- To ensure Implementation of proper training, development, and succession planning programs for critical roles.
Risk Management and Compliance:
- Ensure that the company's plants operate in compliance with all relevant laws, regulations and industry standards.
- Stay informed about changes in regulations, policies, and compliance requirements, ensuring the company's adherence to legal and ethical standards.
- Any other duties/responsibilities assigned by the management.
