Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Breaker Machine Operator with 5–6 years of hands-on expertise in sponge iron or steel plants. The operator will be responsible for running, monitoring, and maintaining breaker machines, ensuring optimal performance, minimizing downtime, and achieving production targets. The role demands strong mechanical knowledge, attention to safety, and the ability to coordinate with production and maintenance teams.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Machine Operation

  • Operate breaker machines efficiently and safely as per standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor machine parameters, load, and material size during operations.
  • Adjust settings to achieve required crushing/size reduction standards.
  • Ensure continuous and smooth feeding and discharge of material.

2. Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance of breaker machines.
  • Detect abnormalities and immediately report to the maintenance department.
  • Assist fitters during breakdown maintenance and repairs.
  • Ensure proper lubrication, cleaning, and replacement of worn-out parts.

3. Production Monitoring

  • Maintain records of daily machine output and operational logs.
  • Ensure product quality meets sponge iron process requirements.
  • Coordinate with shift in-charge and control room for uninterrupted operations.
  • Contribute to achieving daily/weekly production targets.

4. Safety & Compliance

  • Follow plant safety procedures, PPE requirements, and operational guidelines.
  • Identify and report any unsafe act, condition, or near-miss incident.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.

5. Team Coordination

  • Work closely with production, mechanical, and electrical teams.
  • Supervise helpers and guide junior operators when required.
  • Support preventive maintenance planning and spare parts management.

Skills & Competencies Required

  • In-depth knowledge of breaker/crusher machines in sponge iron or steel plants.
  • Ability to handle heavy mechanical equipment and troubleshoot issues.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, alignment, and lubrication.
  • Problem-solving mindset with focus on minimizing downtime.
  • Good communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
  • Commitment to safety and operational discipline.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: ITI/Diploma in Mechanical / Fitter / Relevant Trade.
  • Experience: 5–6 years of relevant experience operating breaker machines in Sponge Iron / Steel Plants.
  • Proven experience in handling rotary kilns, crushers, conveyors, and heavy mechanical systems is preferred.
