About the Role

The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment at the project site by enforcing safety standards, conducting regular inspections, and promoting a strong safety culture among all site personnel. The role requires close coordination with project teams to maintain compliance with statutory and client-specific safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and monitor Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) policies at the project site.
  • Conduct daily safety inspections and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  • Deliver Safety Induction Training for all new workers and staff.
  • Organize Toolbox Talks (TBT) and periodic safety awareness programs.

  • Maintain safety documentation including:

  • Daily and weekly inspection reports

  • Incident / near-miss reports
  • PPE issue register

  • Work permit system records

  • Ensure availability and proper use of PPE by all personnel.

  • Monitor scaffolding, lifting operations, electrical safety, and excavation works.
  • Ensure fire safety equipment and first-aid facilities are available and functional.
  • Coordinate and support emergency preparedness and mock drills.
  • Report unsafe conditions or acts and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • Support statutory compliance as per BOCW Act, Factory Act, and client safety standards.
  • Liaise with clients safety representatives during audits or inspections.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Diploma / Degree in Engineering with Diploma in Industrial Safety (mandatory).
  • Experience: 1–2 years of relevant experience in construction / industrial projects.
  • Familiar with OHSAS / ISO 45001 standards and local statutory requirements.

  • Ability to train and motivate site personnel toward zero-incident culture.
