Network Engineer – ISP L2

Location: Kochi, Kerala

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Network Engineer (L2) to join our ISP Network Operations team. In this role, you will support daily network operations, handle escalated issues, and ensure smooth functioning of our broadband and enterprise network services. You will work with technologies like routing, switching, FTTH/GPON, and IPv6 while supporting field teams and customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage ISP network performance and uptime.
  • Troubleshoot L2 network incidents and escalate to L3 when needed.
  • Support FTTH/GPON infrastructure, OLT/ONT configurations, and customer provisioning.
  • Work on routing and switching tasks (VLANs, OSPF basics, BGP basics).
  • Analyse network alarms and take corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with field engineers for issue resolution.
  • Maintain accurate logs, documentation, and shift reports.
  • Provide excellent support to customers and internal teams.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 2–4 years of experience in ISP or telecom network operations.
  • Good understanding of IP networking, routing & switching.
  • Hands-on experience with GPON/FTTH networks.
  • Familiar with tools such as NMS, ticketing systems, and monitoring dashboards.
  • Ability to troubleshoot L2 issues efficiently.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills (optional)

  • Basic knowledge of BGP / OSPF routing.
  • Experience with MikroTik, Cisco, Juniper, or similar network devices.
  • Knowledge of IPv6 addressing.

Education

  • Diploma / B.Tech / B.E. in Electronics, IT, or related fields.
  • Relevant networking certifications (CCNA, JNCIA, MikroTik) are a plus.

Work Schedule

  • Shift-based work as per NOC operations.
  • Rotational weekly offs.
