Job Description

Overview :

Position: SmartCOMM Developer

Location: [Specify – Onsite/Hybrid/Remote]

Experience Level: 6+ years (with at least 4–5 years in SmartCOMM/Thunderhead CCM)

Domain Focus: Insurance – Policy & Claims

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced SmartCOMM Developer to join our insurance technology team. The role will focus on designing, building, and maintaining Policy and Claims forms leveraging SmartCOMM (Thunderhead) solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SmartCOMM projects, a solid understanding of Guidewire integrations, and proven experience delivering high-quality, multi-channel communications in P&C insurance environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Policy, Billing, and Claim forms using SmartCOMM (Advanced Template Designer, Data Modeler, Layouts, and Style sets).
• Work with business and technical teams to analyze requirements and translate them into communication templates.
• Build and configure data models (XML, XSD, JSON, DTDs) for use within SmartCOMM solutions.
• Develop reusable components such as shared content, enclosures, script libraries, and configuration files.
• Implement templates across multiple channels (Print, Word, PDF, Web, SMS, Email).
• Collaborate with Guidewire PolicyCenter/ClaimCenter teams for seamless data mapping and integration.
• Conduct unit testing, debugging, and defect resolution across SIT, UAT, and E2E test cycles.
• Support deployments and provide production issue analysis/resolution.
• Mentor junior developers and support knowledge transfer within the team.
• Work in Agile delivery environments with global teams.

Requirements

Required Skills & Experience

• 6+ years of hands-on experience in SmartCOMM/Thunderhead CCM solutions.
• Strong expertise in Policy and Claim forms development for P&C insurance carriers.

Proficiency in:

• SmartCOMM Components – ATD, Data Modeler, Layouts, Shared Content, Style sets, Config files.
• Channels – Print, Word, Web, PDF, SMS, Email.
• SmartCOMM APIs and integration with external systems.
• Strong understanding of Guidewire (PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, ClaimCenter) integration with SmartCOMM.
• Good knowledge of Core Java, JavaScript, JSP/Servlets, and SQL.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and working in distributed teams.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Good to Have

• Experience with SmartIQ for forms, workflows, and dashboards.
• Exposure to large-scale Insurance transformation projects (e.g., migration of forms from legacy to SmartCOMM).
• Knowledge of banking/financial domain forms development is an added advantage.
