Role & responsibilities

  • Precision Soldering: Perform complex, fine-pitch soldering, component placement, and rework of PCBs using hot air, soldering irons, and specialized tools for both prototypes and low-volume production runs.
  • SMD Expertise: Demonstrate advanced proficiency in handling and soldering delicate SMD components (e.g., 0402, 0201, QFN, BGA packages) under a microscope.
  • Through-Hole Assembly: Assemble, solder, and rework conventional (THT) components, ensuring secure mechanical and electrical connections.
  • Quality and Inspection: Inspect all finished assemblies for compliance with engineering drawings, component orientation, and IPC-A-610 acceptance standards (or equivalent internal quality metrics). Identify and diagnose soldering defects, such as bridges, cold joints, and lifting pads.
  • Rework and Repair: Execute high-precision PCB repair, including pad and track repair, desoldering, and component replacement on damaged or failed boards.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, components used, and any anomalies or deviations encountered during the assembly process.
  • Safety and Maintenance: Adhere to all safety protocols, maintain a clean and organized workspace, and perform routine maintenance on soldering equipment (tips, hot air stations, microscopes).

Preferred candidate profile

  • Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of professional experience performing hand soldering and rework on complex electronic assemblies.
  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in soldering techniques for both SMD (Surface Mount Devices) and Through-Hole components.
  • Tools: Proficient in the use of standard electronic assembly tools, including soldering stations, hot air rework stations, magnifiers, microscopes, multimeters, and specialized component handling tools.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional manual dexterity and sharp vision (corrected) required for precision work.
  • Work Environment: Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, following detailed written and verbal instructions.
  • Quality Standards: Must be proficient in following and applying IPC-A-610 (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies) and J-STD-001 (Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies) quality criteria.
