The Technical Data Product Owner is responsible for the strategy, development, and lifecycle management of data products within a global domain at Vantive (e.g., Supply Chain, Commercial, Corporate Functions, or Digital Product Innovation). This role bridges the gap between business needs and technical execution, ensuring that data products—including Data Warehouses, ETL/ELT pipelines, BI reporting, and analytics solutions—are aligned with strategic goals and deliver measurable value.

You will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, visualization experts, and cross-functional IT teams to define and deliver high-impact data solutions. This role requires a strong technical foundation, deep understanding of Agile methodologies, and the ability to translate business requirements into scalable, high-quality data products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and communicate a clear product vision, roadmap, and strategy for data products within the assigned domain.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand strategic objectives, define data needs, and translate them into actionable product requirements.
  • Own and manage the product backlog; define user stories, acceptance criteria, and prioritize features based on business value and technical feasibility.
  • Lead Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives; track team velocity and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Provide hands-on guidance to delivery teams (data engineers, BI developers, QA) to ensure high-quality, scalable, and secure data solutions.
  • Ensure timely delivery of data products that meet business expectations, technical standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Partner with Data Governance, ERP, Enterprise Architecture, and Application Engineering teams to ensure data consistency, quality, and integration.
  • Advocate for technical excellence and reusable, scalable data architecture across the organization.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of data warehousing, ETL/ELT pipelines, and data modeling.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, and data integration tools (e.g., DataStage).
  • Experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Cognos.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and modern data architectures (e.g., data lakehouse, event-driven pipelines).
  • Experience with Agile tools like Jira, Confluence
  • Understanding of data governance, metadata management, and data quality frameworks.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Act as the primary liaison between business units and technical teams, ensuring alignment on priorities and expectations.
  • Facilitate workshops and discovery sessions to gather requirements and validate solutions.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts in a clear, business-friendly manner.
  • Build strong relationships with global stakeholders across business and IT functions.

Key Experiences & Attributes:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience working with business users to define functional and analytical requirements.
  • 5+ years in a product owner, delivery lead, or team lead role within data and analytics.
  • Proven experience in Agile delivery, including backlog management and sprint execution.
  • Experience working with offshore development and QA teams.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a global, matrixed organization.
