Job Description

The Product Owner is a hybrid leadership role merging classical Product Owner responsibilities with core Scrum Master functions. This position steers delivery excellence and maximizes team performance, bridging business goals, client interests, and product execution. The ideal candidate excels in backlog management, stakeholder communication, agile facilitation, and is passionate about understanding the product inside out.

Key Responsibilities

Sprint & Jira Board Management

  • Lead, facilitate, and continuously improve all Scrum ceremonies: sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
  • Own and administer Jira boards: Create & manage sprints, measure and publish health of the sprint through tech utilization, scope creep, etc.
  • Monitor sprint goals, remove impediments, ensure sprint deliverables meet quality criteria and timelines

Client Support Ownership

  • Act as the primary owner for client-reported issues, ensuring timely triage, communication and resolution.
  • Collaborate with Support team on the tickets, evaluate for accuracy & completeness, and prioritize it.
  • Collaborate with the engineering & QA teams to get the issues addressed, and lead their deployment based on client SLA
  • Communicate project status, risks, and client feedback to stakeholders, fostering transparency and trust

Product & Engineering Collaboration

  • Track tickets and ensure collaboration across the engineering pods and
  • Work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and QA to deliver product features aligned to the product roadmap.
  • Foster a high-performing, collaborative, and cross-functional team culture

Product Understanding & Continuous Improvement

  • Invest time to gain in-depth knowledge of the product suite, user journeys, and industry context.
  • Drive continuous improvement through retrospectives, utilizing feedback to refine processes and raise product quality
    Analyze and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), using data for iterative enhancements to team effectiveness and product value

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Agile roles (Product Owner, Scrum Master, or similar).
  • Expertise in Agile/Scrum methodologies and Jira (or equivalent Agile project management tools)
  • Product mindset with the curiosity to deeply understand product functionality and user needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Agile certifications (e.g., CSPO, CSM, PSM, SAFe) are highly valued
  • Strong analytical, facilitation, and communication skills with experience interfacing with clients and engineering teams
  • Technical familiarity—conceptual understanding of programming/DB querying is a plus.
