Senior Storeman/woman

• The role of a Senior Storeman/woman (also referred to as Senior Storekeeper or Store In-charge) involves overseeing and managing all aspects of a store or warehouse's daily operations, with a focus on inventory control, staff supervision, and efficiency.
• Key Responsibilities
• Inventory Management: Develop and implement inventory management strategies, including monitoring stock levels (ensuring minimum/maximum levels are maintained), conducting regular physical stock counts and audits, and reconciling discrepancies.
• Receiving and Dispatching: Oversee the accurate receipt, inspection, documentation (e.g., Goods Receipt Notes in ERP/SAP systems), storage, and dispatch of all incoming and outgoing materials and goods.
• initiate purchase requisitions, and ensure timely replenishment to prevent stockouts.

Ensure proper identification, labeling, and safe storage of all goods and materials, often following methods like FIFO (First-In, First-Out).

• Receiving and Dispatching:

Oversee the receipt, inspection, and documentation of all incoming deliveries, verifying contents against purchase orders or delivery notes.

Manage the picking, packing, and preparation of orders for dispatch, coordinating with logistics and production teams to ensure timely and accurate shipments.

Supervise the loading and unloading of materials, potentially using equipment like forklifts or pallet jacks.

• Staff Supervision and Operations:

Lead, train, and mentor junior storekeeping staff and helpers, assigning duties and monitoring performance.

• Manage overall store operations, ensuring a well-organized, clean, and efficient workflow.

Implement and enforce safety and security protocols, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

• Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of all inventory transactions, stock movements, and storage conditions.

Prepare regular reports on stock levels, consumption patterns, and operational performance for management review.

Handle all related documentation, such as Goods Receipt Notes (GRN), delivery challans, and defect reports for damaged items.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: Proven experience (typically 3-5+ years) in a storekeeping, inventory control, or warehouse role, with prior experience in a supervisory or leadership position being highly advantageous.

• Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is generally a minimum requirement; a diploma or degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or Material Management is often preferred.

• Technical Skills:

Proficiency in inventory management software (ERP, SAP, etc.) and Microsoft Office (spreadsheets, word processing).

Knowledge of proper material handling procedures and the ability to operate warehouse equipment like forklifts (certification often required).

• Soft Skills:

Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.

Excellent organizational and time management skills, with keen attention to detail.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate with various internal teams and external suppliers.

Physical fitness and the ability to lift moderately heavy items and stand for long periods.

Problem-solving skills and adaptability to a dynamic work environment.
