Job Purpose

The Mechanical Auditor is responsible for auditing CAPEX and OPEX mechanical activities, validating executed work, verifying procurement and billing accuracy, and ensuring compliance with engineering standards, quality requirements, and approved contracts. The role aims to optimize cost control, strengthen project governance, and maintain transparency in mechanical execution across the chemical plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and verify completed
    CAPEX & OPEX bills
    and match them with actual work executed during site visits.
  • Check and validate task rates against approved
    ARC (Annual Rate Contracts)
    .
  • Verify measurements based on actual physical work completed and document discrepancies in audit reports.
  • Review BOQ and MOQ against material purchase quantities to ensure procurement compliance.
  • Identify tasks performed outside ARC scope and ensure proper approval and justification.
  • Inspect all executed mechanical works to ensure adherence to engineering standards, specifications, and quality benchmarks.
  • Audit equipment purchase details including cost, technical specifications, make/brand, and nameplate information.
  • Inspect structural work, welding joints, and fabrication quality; document defects, improper practices, or non-compliance.
  • Compare material procurement prices with prevailing market rates and highlight cost deviations.
  • Review preventive maintenance records to ensure timely maintenance, documentation accuracy, and equipment reliability.

Qualifications

  • BE / ME Mechanical Engineering
  • or
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
    with relevant industry experience

Experience Requirements

  • 1 to 5 years
    of experience in:
  • Mechanical auditing
  • Project execution (CAPEX/OPEX)
  • Maintenance auditing or technical inspection
  • Prior experience in a
    chemical industry
    is mandatory.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, fabrication, piping, and equipment installation
  • Understanding of BOQ, rate contracts, vendor negotiation, and procurement processes
  • Knowledge of technical standards (ISO, ASME, IS, API, OSHA/Factory Act compliance)
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, P&IDs, GA layouts, and nameplate data
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Good documentation, reporting, and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, SAP/ERP systems preferred
