Role Description/Purpose
A dynamic and experienced professional is required to lead our Quality Control function, overseeing Quality Assurance, Risk Management, Business Continuity Management, Knowledge Management, Process Training, Continual Improvement, and Governance across BCMS, including English & Exams operations. The post holder will play a pivotal role in aligning BCMS Service Line activities with the British Council's Quality strategy and objectives, ensuring robust assurance and control mechanisms are in place. The post holder will be responsible for developing and embedding Business Continuity practices that safeguard our workforce and enable rapid recovery of critical operations during disruptions. This role demands a strong focus on operational compliance, the design of resilient processes to mitigate attrition, and the implementation of transparent data reporting systems that drive actionable insights. The post holder will also lead the development of Information Security methodologies to protect sensitive data across all formats, ensure adherence to British Council standards and risk frameworks, and provide strategic reporting to the BCMS operations board. Additionally, the post holder will spearhead the creation and institutionalization of Knowledge Management strategies and frameworks, and manage the coordination and delivery of comprehensive Audit Plans.
Role Accountabilities
We are looking for an accomplished and visionary leader to take on the role of Head Quality Control. This position is central to shaping and enhancing the British Council Management System (BCMS) through the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of key initiatives across Quality Control and Assurance, Knowledge Management, Business Continuity, Information Security, and Governance. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and maintaining the Quality Assurance Management System (QAMS), developing business process controls, supporting delivery teams with process management, and overseeing internal and external audit planning and execution. They will also lead the analysis of audit data to drive continual improvement and ensure robust records management practices.
In this role, the Head Quality Control will champion knowledge management strategies that support onboarding, mitigate attrition risks, and foster a culture of shared learning through structured training plans, workshops, and case studies. They will work closely with operational teams to identify and improve underperforming KPIs, streamline processes through automation, and embed best practices that elevate service quality. The role also includes setting and reviewing policies for Business Continuity Management and Information Security, ensuring compliance with ISO standards, and managing responses to major incidents. Additionally, the postholder will ensure alignment with British Council standards, facilitate risk management audits, uphold governance protocols, and ensure compliance with legal and ethical obligations including the Freedom of Information Act and child protection policies.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Holder of a bachelor's or postgraduate degree
Knowledge And Experience
- 10-15 years of experience in a similar role in relevant industry
- Expert in operations and service transitions
- Expert in organization-level reporting and balanced scorecard
- Risk management
- Audit management
- Quality assurance framework and implementation across blended services (Finance, IT, and BPO services)

Work Schedule:
This is a 24/7 on-site role with rotating shifts, including night shifts. The position offers two days off per week, which may not always fall on weekends. Flexibility and adaptability to a continuous shift-based environment are essential.
