Overview:
Launch Lab is supporting a global leader in human performance and healthcare analytics. This role offers an opportunity to join the product engineering group responsible for building rich, data-driven web applications used by elite organisations worldwide. You'll contribute to a brand-new greenfield project delivering performant, engaging interfaces that visualise complex datasets in intuitive and accessible ways.

Engagement Details:

• Start Date: Immediate
• Initial Term: 10 months (August 2026) with the possibility of extension
• Location: Fully remote
• Working Hours: 8h/day, availability required during UK business hours

About the Project:
The frontend engineer will build and evolve a new reporting and analytics interface. Key areas of focus include:

• Implementing interactive dashboards and visualisations from structured JSON data
• Delivering responsive and accessible UI components using React
• Collaborating closely with backend engineers to define and consume APIs
• Optimising rendering performance for large data sets
• Establishing reusable component patterns aligned with the existing design system

The project is greenfield, with established engineering practices, mature product and design input, and strong support from QA and delivery functions.

Must-Have Experience & Skills
Technical

• 4–5 years of professional experience developing complex web applications
• Expert in React and modern JavaScript (ES6+)
• Proven experience consuming and managing structured API data (REST/JSON)
• Strong understanding of state management (Redux, Context API, or similar)
• Knowledge of modular component design, accessibility, and responsive layouts
• Awareness of frontend performance optimisation techniques
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and agile development environments
• Familiarity with frontend testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress)

Business & Delivery

• Fluent technical English and excellent communication skills
• Experience working in cross-functional, remote teams (Product, Design, QA)
• Comfortable operating in SCRUM/agile delivery models
• Demonstrated ability to iterate quickly and respond to product feedback

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with TypeScript
• Familiarity with data visualisation libraries (e.g., , Recharts, Highcharts)
• Exposure to GraphQL APIs
• Understanding of design systems and component libraries
• Experience in SaaS or analytics platforms

Responsibilities

• Build responsive, accessible, and performant UI components using React
• Translate JSON API responses into dynamic data tables and visualisations
• Collaborate with backend engineers on API integration and data validation
• Work closely with Product and Design to ensure consistent UX patterns
• Optimise rendering and state management for large or complex datasets
• Participate in sprint ceremonies (stand-ups, planning, reviews, retrospectives)
• Contribute to frontend architecture and best practices

Success Criteria:

• Within 4–6 weeks: Fully onboarded, contributing to core frontend features
• Within 3–6 months: Own key feature areas, delivering reusable, high-quality components
• Consistently deliver performant, accessible, and visually polished UI
• Collaborate effectively with the wider engineering and product team

Working Practices:

• Methodology: SCRUM
• Team Size: Product, Design, QA, Frontend and Backend Engineers
• Tooling: Jira, Slack, GitHub, Google Workspace
• Ceremonies: Daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, demos, retrospectives

Additional Information:

• Equipment: Mac laptop required (Jamf managed)
• Onboarding: 4-week structured onboarding plan with HR and manager
• Compliance: Confidentiality agreement + security training (with ongoing monthly modules)

Assessment Process:

• CV Review – Check for experience on paper
• Launch Lab technical screening (30 mins) - Core React/JS fundamentals
• Launch Lab collaborative assessment (1 hr)
• Final interview (culture fit + technical interview incl. system design, product interaction, 2-2.5 hrs)
