Summary

HCL Workload Automation Lab services team is looking for a Professional Services Lead engineer / Architect to help driving his business growth through Professional services delivery and Migration Center of Excellence (COE) improvement. The HCL Software Lab Services team is a global organization responsible for delivering Professional Services to enable customers to gain their business values quickly by implementing HCL Workload Automation Solution .

Primary Focus for this Lead engineer /Architect leading the migration factory team to improve and exploit a powerful – effective migration tool to help customers transformation projects from other schedulers.

Role

We are seeking a Workload Automation Lead Engineer / Architect to exploit and improve the design, development, and optimization of our workload automation solutions within the Migration Factory team. This role will be instrumental in driving large-scale migration initiatives, modernizing automation frameworks, and advancing the tools and technologies that power our internal migration processes.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader with deep expertise in Workload Automation platforms, a strong development background, and the ability to architect scalable, reliable automation solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect & Lead Automation Solutions: Design, develop, and implement frameworks to improve our migration tool and support effective and smooth Client migrations from Competition schedulers to IWS/HWA.
• Product Expertise: Act as the subject matter expert for IWS/HCL Workload Automation product (or other competition products like BMC Control-M, Broadcom AutoSys, Redwood or similar).
• Tooling Development: Build and enhance internal migration tools, APIs, and utilities that streamline job migration, scheduling, and orchestration.
• Migration Factory Leadership: Partner with cross-functional teams (Cloud, DevOps, Operations, Engineering) to drive efficiency, consistency, and scalability in workload migration.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement automation opportunities to improve performance, reliability, and quality.
• Governance & Standards: Define best practices, design patterns and standards for workload automation migration tool.
• Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and analysts within the migration team.

Also,

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Understanding of customer needs, to transform them in software requirements and developing them into the existing migration tool.
• He/she will ensure to follow the most current software development practices , including:
• New programs tests and evaluation
• Identification of modification/improvement areas for existing programs
• Efficient and quality code production
• Follows standard quality processes and metrics
• Working closely with other developers to capitalize on strategic assets growth

Additional responsibilities he/she could cover as part of HCL Software Professional Services team are:

• Taking a solution and consultative approach to identify, progress, implement and close projects at customer site, working closely across the HCL Software organization, as well as with the broader HCL Software/ HCL Technologies teams.
• Providing proactive technical support to customer and has ownership for resolving technical issues that may arise during customer migration projects
• Showing strong communication style with maturity to be able to adjust his/her style to get the best from the situation
• excellent presentation skills, and proficiency in the use of most common presentation tools
• Fair experience of developing accurate and concise technical and project documentation that will be used by colleague and customers
• Improvement-focused approach to process and tools
• Fair experience delivering and leading technical engagements .

• Proven ability to apply Agile project methodology in a global IT environment, with expertise on agile reporting and tracking tools such as Jira

Required Skills / experience:

Workload Automation Product Expertise

• Good hands-on experience with IWS /HWA Workload Automation platform and/or any major Competition Scheduler like BMC-Control-M, Broadcom AutoSys, Redwood , or similar.
• Proven ability to design, configure, migrate, and optimize scheduling environments.
• Strong understanding of job scheduling, dependency management, and workload orchestration concepts.

Development Skills

• Strong proficiency in Java, JavaScript, and Python for developing automation frameworks and custom integration tools.
• Experience in designing and consuming REST APIs, microservices, etc..

Scripting & Automation

• Proficiency in UNIX shell, PowerShell, Perl, or similar scripting languages for automation and orchestration.

Preferred skills

• Distributed OS skills Windows, UNIX, Linux, Cloud are appreciated
• Main distributed database concepts
• Workload automation/Scheduling tools base knowledge (one among the top scheduling tools (IWS, BMC Control-M , CA Broadcom or others...)
• Some base experience as Operator/Administrator of a workload automation product, understanding of large companies needs and pain in scheduling

Travel:

• The PS lead Engineer /Architect might be required to travel and work at customer sites

(25% to 50% travel could be required)

Education - Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Experience leading large-scale workload migration or modernization initiatives.
• Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and hybrid automation architectures.
• Some background in DevOps or Operations Automation..
