Spm Design Engineer

Position Description

We are looking for a skilled and innovative Sr. Design Engineer SPM with experience in developing special-purpose machinery & lead the mechanical design and development of custom automation systems for pharmaceutical applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design, a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, and the ability to lead engineering projects from concept to commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed 3D models of pharmaceutical machinery based on customer requirements and technical specifications
• Use CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD to design parts, assemblies, and complete machine systems.
• Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability, including CNC machining, sheet metal work, fabrication, and welding
• Consider material selection, tolerances, and ease of assembly in all designs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, automation) to integrate design with control systems and automation.
• Coordinate with QA and regulatory teams to ensure all designs meet GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards.
• Generate 2D/3D fabrication drawings, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and assembly instructions.
• Customize standard designs to meet client-specific parameters (output rate, footprint, material type, space constraints, etc.).
• Support prototyping, initial build phases, machine trials, functional testing, and debugging.
• Maintain and update 3D models and design documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
• Conduct feasibility studies and design risk assessments.
• Directly interact with customers to understand requirements and offer viable design solutions.

Experience

• 3 years of experience in Equipment and machinery manufacturing
• Hands-on experience with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD for 2D/3D modelling
• Candidate with background in relevant Industrial/production/ Medical device manufacturing experience will be given preference.

Technical and Domain Skills

• B.TECH / Engineering ( Degree or Diploma) in Mechanical Engineering
• Proficiency in CAD Design 2D & 3D on Autodesk / Inventor platforms
• Additional courses in CAD drafting - presentation of drawings etc
• Understand equipment manufacturing and engineering design
• Familiar with bearing, gears, fasteners, fits and tolerances etc
• Additional courses in product design / Design Engineering
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and motion control
