You will work on:

• Leading, mentoring, and managing multiple SRE teams, which may include managing other engineering managers.
• Defining and executing the long-term strategic vision for site reliability across a significant portion of the Okta platform.
• Serving as a key evangelist and advocate for security, reliability, and automation best practices across a broad range of engineering teams and business leaders.
• Establishing, refining, and scaling our incident response and post-mortem processes to improve organizational-wide remediation and prevention.
• Partnering with senior leaders across engineering, product, and business to balance the competing constraints of reliability, security, and delivery velocity.
• Driving the hiring and retention strategy for your organization, working closely with recruiting and people operations to build high-performing teams.
• Keeping a sharp eye on key metrics, including vulnerability scanning and security posture, cloud spend, RPO and RTO, and toil overhead, and ensuring your teams are driving metrics in the right direction.
• Supporting a 24x7 online environment as part of an on-call rotation.

You are an ideal candidate if you:

• Are always willing to go the extra mile: see a problem, fix the problem.
• Are passionate about encouraging the development of engineering leaders and managers, and leading by example.
• Have experience managing multiple teams running large-scale production containerized services in AWS (EKS & ECS). Other cloud providers are a bonus.
• Have deep knowledge of CI/CD principles, Linux fundamentals, OS hardening, networking concepts, and IP protocols.
• Deep technical credibility - hands-on experience in SRE, Software Engineering, cloud infrastructure, and automation, with the ability to roll up your sleeves and solve complex problems when needed.
• Lead by example - Brings first-hand knowledge of the work your team(s) perform and uses that background to set high standards, mentor effectively, and earn the respect of senior engineers.
  
  

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Qualities:

• 5+ years of experience managing SRE or SWE teams, ideally in a cloud-native environment.
• 2+ years of experience managing other managers.
• Strong leadership, strategic planning, cross-functional communication, and project management skills.
• Strong security background and knowledge.
• BS in computer science (or equivalent experience).
