About the job

As a Data Engineer at RHI Magnesita, you will be part of a global team of data engineers and data experts who report to the Head of Data & Analytics Delivery.

Your focus lies in designing and implementing comprehensive analytics solutions, spanning from data extraction and ingestion to transformation and consumption. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to

• leverage data from SAP S/4HANA systems
• design & implement analytics solutions with cloud-based technologies including Databricks, Azure data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI and more to support business decisions
• employ agile techniques and Scrum methodology to manage projects efficiently and ensure timely delivery of data solutions.

In addition, your tasks will include

• Extracting data from various SAP source objects (such as CDS views, extractors, tables) with a focus on efficient delta extraction
• Optimizing data transformation processes to improve performance and scalability
• Developing SQL databases and other tools necessary for data retrieval and analytics
• Ensuring best practices and compliance with data governance and security policies
• Documenting processes and coding consistently and comprehensively

Education & Skills

• Higher education (or comparable work experience) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
• Profound knowledge of SAP / SAP S/4HANA data structures, extraction methods and basic overview/understanding of SAP business processes
• Proficiency in programming languages used in data transformation, particularly SQL

Languages

• English Proficient/Fluent
• Any other language will be considered an asset

Work Experience

• A couple years of experience in data engineering, ideally based on SAP source systems
• Experience with Azure cloud services, particularly Azure Data Lake and Databricks
• Strong experience in developing and managing SQL databases
