Position Overview

FocusOn Interiors is seeking a skilled
Estimation Engineer / Quantity Surveyor
who can independently calculate item rates, prepare detailed BOQs from drawings, and understand both the
design
and
execution
processes.

The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of commercial interior fit-out materials, market rates, and technical specifications.

Key Responsibilities

1. BOQ Preparation & Quantity Take-Off

  • Prepare detailed BOQs from AutoCAD drawings, layouts, and GFCs.
  • Perform accurate quantity take-offs for interior, civil, electrical, and basic MEP works.
  • Revise BOQs based on design changes or additional scope.

2. Rate Analysis & Costing

  • Prepare rate breakup for each item including material, labor, wastage, overheads, and contingencies.
  • Evaluate vendor quotations and prepare comparisons.
  • Maintain database of market rates and vendor pricing.

3. Design & Execution Knowledge

  • Read and understand design intent drawings, material specifications, and finishing schedules.
  • Coordinate with the Design, Purchase, and Execution teams for technical inputs.
  • Provide value engineering suggestions when required.

4. Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare costing sheets, rate summaries, and proposal support documents.
  • Assist procurement in validating rates and scope.
  • Ensure proper documentation of all versions of BOQ and costing.

Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of interior fit-out items: partitions, ceilings, flooring, carpentry, metal works, glazing, modular furniture, paint, MEP basics, etc.
  • Proficiency in rate analysis and material/labor understanding.
  • Ability to extract quantities from drawings accurately.

Software Skills

  • AutoCAD (Mandatory)
  • Excel (Advanced formulas, costing templates)
  • MS Office
  • Optional: Bluebeam, SketchUp

Education

  • Diploma / B.Tech in Civil Engineering
  • OR
  • Degree in Interior Design with estimation experience

Experience

  • 2–7 years in commercial interior fit-out estimation
  • Experience with turnkey projects preferred

Soft Skills

  • Attention to detail
  • Strong numerical & analytical skills
  • Good communication & coordination ability
  • Ability to work under timelines
