Petrochemicals: Adani Group is making significant strides in the petrochemical landscape with the establishment of its inaugural petrochemical complex, named Green PVC. This initiative aligns with our broader strategy in the petrochemicals, oil & gas, and downstream sectors.The Petrochemicals Business Unit is spearheading the Green PVC project, which entails a substantial investment of INR 26,000 crore. This investment is focused on integrating the acetylene route to facilitate sustainable polyvinyl chloride (PVC) manufacturing. Currently in the execution phase, the project is on track to deliver its first product by June 2026.

Job Purpose: The Mechanical Engineering Lead is responsible for overseeing project planning, technical specification, and engineering support across mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements. This role involves coordinating technical activities, managing vendor relationships, and facilitating stakeholder communication to achieve project goals. Additionally, the Mechanical Engineering Lead monitors project progress and budgets, implements risk management strategies, and supports team development to enhance overall project execution and operational efficiency.

Mechanical Engineering Lead-PETCHEM

Project Planning and Coordination:

Ensure alignment with project requirements by assisting in the review and recommendation of site plot plans and tender documents.

Achieve effective integration of complex change requests into the project lifecycle by performing detailed analyses and developing technical plans, while monitoring performance metrics using advanced tools and methodologies.

Ensure adherence to industry standards by managing mechanical engineering activities, providing progress updates, handling project change requests, and conducting technical risk assessments.

Achieve project goals by coordinating and leading technical meetings, addressing contractor and vendor queries.

Develop and implement detailed project schedules in collaboration with the Mechanical Senior Lead and other team members.

Technical Specification, Analysis, and Review:

Ensure compliance with advanced codes and project requirements by developing, reviewing, and updating mechanical specifications and designs.

Guarantee the accuracy and relevance of engineering deliverables by preparing and reviewing mechanical data sheets, material requisitions, and bid evaluations.

Ensure adherence to industry standards and project specifications by designing and reviewing pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and storage tanks.

Ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications by designing and reviewing rotary equipment such as pumps, compressors, and turbines.

Ensure compliance with relevant standards and specifications, and coordinate with vendors for technical clarifications and performance assessments by designing, reviewing, and managing package equipment such as boilers, compressors, and water treatment systems.

Optimize mechanical systems by conducting high-level technical calculations (e.g., stress analysis) and using technologies (e.g., CFD, FEA).

Resolve technical issues related to mechanical equipment and system integration to align with engineering objectives.

Enhance engineering processes and maintain high-quality technical reviews by identifying and implementing digital tools.

Ensure operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness by overseeing the selection, management, and procurement of static and rotary equipment.

Ensure accuracy and relevance by conducting a review of tender technical documents and vendor documents.

Ensure technical accuracy and address potential issues by conducting vendor evaluations, shop visits, and technical clarifications.

Support effective management of change orders by providing support for change order management activities.

Project Monitoring, Reporting, and Budget Control:

Ensure adherence to project documentation and budgets by monitoring and providing regular updates to the Mechanical Senior Lead.

Highlight project progress, potential issues, and risks by preparing and presenting status reports.

Ensure financial efficiency by participating in budgeting activities, identifying, and recommending cost-saving measures.

Field Engineering Support:

Ensure alignment with detailed project plans and specifications by providing on-site support for mechanical equipment and systems during the construction phase.

Resolve field-specific issues related to installations by addressing technical queries from site workers, vendors, and quality assurance agents.

Resolve technical issues during construction by conducting site visits.

Compliance, Safety, and Risk Management:

Ensure adherence to safety standards and environmental regulations by conducting safety audits using advanced techniques, assessing compliance, and communicating detailed findings to stakeholders.

Ensure that all materials and equipment meet project compliance requirements and quality standards by reviewing material requisitions and vendor submissions for technical accuracy.

Support procurement and construction teams in meeting project specifications and compliance requirements to ensure rigorous compliance.

Mitigate risks in project design and construction by identifying, assessing, and implementing mitigation measures through regular risk assessments.

Align with environmental goals by incorporating basic sustainability practices into HSE measures and design recommendations, including fundamental controls, waste management techniques, and collaboration with specialists.

Stakeholder Management:

Ensure technical capabilities and adherence to project timelines by evaluating and monitoring vendors.

Facilitate seamless project execution by coordinating effectively with contractors, vendors, and internal teams.

Enhance communication among stakeholders, including engineering, construction, and licensing entities to support effective collaboration.

Team Management:

Ensure project success and maintain high standards in coordination, technical execution, and effective utilization of each member's expertise by overseeing and managing the daily performance of the mechanical equipment team.

Ensure continuous improvement in technical skills and performance in line with project goals and industry standards by facilitating and supporting training and development initiatives.

Educational Qualification:

B.E/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from a reputed institute/university.

Master's degree in the same field is preferred.

Work Experience (Range of years):

15 to 20 years relevant experience in the similar role in a reputed organization for basic and detailed of Projects for refinery, chemical and petrochemical industries including coordination with the licensors, PMCs, Vendors and other external stakeholders.

Experience in designing and managing rotary/ static/ HVAC systems/ package equipment.
