The Painting Production Engineer is responsible for planning, supervising, and optimizing all painting processes in the production line to ensure high-quality finishes, cost efficiency, and compliance with safety and environmental standards. This role ensures continuous improvement in paint application techniques, material utilization, and equipment performance while supporting production targets.

The role also involves preparing and maintaining the Bills of Materials (BOMs) for all painted products, ensuring accuracy in material specifications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ACTIVITIES

General

  • Ensure the painting department has smooth workflow in adherence to quality standards and standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor and ensure that quality of the production, by optimizing processes, and addressing any bottlenecks or issues.
  • Ensure that the paint and coating applications meet quality standards and adhere to established specifications.
  • Developing and improving paint application processes to enhance efficiency, minimize waste, and optimize production.
  • Training and supervising a team of painters, technicians, and other coating operations.
  • Enforce health and safety regulations, develop safety protocols, and conduct regular safety training in collaboration with the Health and Safety Committee to ensure a safe working environment for the staff.
  • Manage inventory levels to ensure adequate stocks level and minimize waste.
  • Collaborating with technical teams to develop new paint products or to improve existing ones.
  • Ensure efficient production processes, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet production targets while maintaining quality standards and safety protocols.
  • Establish and maintain quality control procedures to ensure that paint products meet regulatory requirements and customer expectations. This involves testing raw materials, monitoring Production processes, and inspecting finished products.
  • Lead research and development efforts to innovate and improve paint formulations, colors, and performance characteristics. This could involve collaborating with chemists, engineers, and designers to develop new products or enhance existing ones.
  • Provide technical support to internal teams, sales staff, and customers by offering guidance on product selection, application techniques, troubleshooting, and resolving technical issues.
  • Stay informed about relevant regulations and standards governing the paint industry, ensuring that products and processes comply with environmental, health, and safety regulations
  • Inventory Control in both Physical and ERP
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
  • Pursuant to the organization chart, and in addition to the outlined reporting structure to ensure overall management of the direct reports.
  • Receiving general supervision from the Production Manager – painting and graphics.
  • Act promptly within the established procedures guided by overall Company policies and objectives.
  • Autonomy of work initiation with agreed action plans in full coordination with the Production Manager
  • Annual performance review with the Production Manager.
  • Take decisions on staff affairs as per authority limits and in consultation with the Production Manager
  • Ensure effective management and development of employees towards the desired objectives (delegating, motivating, resolving problems).
  • Manage, control consumption and rejection of raw materials.
  • Record all dates of consumption and rejections.

BACKGROUND, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent from a reputable university.

· Minimum four (4) years of proven experience in paint manufacturing, coating application, or related industries preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.

· Proficient in written and spoken English communication.

· Familiarity with Microsoft Office products such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other systems used by the company (RFI).

· Self-motivated and driven to achieve performance goals.

· Familiarity with quality control processes and defect tracking.

· Willingness to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.

· Possesses tact, persuasion, and negotiation skills.

· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills with a structured and detail-focused approach.

· Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

· Mindful, alert, and reliable at all times.

· Capable of completing tasks on time with minimal supervision.

· Knowledge of health and safety regulations and ability to enforce compliance.

· Proficiency in paint formulation, application techniques, and quality control.
