Summary:

The IT Building Facilities Engineer is responsible for ensuring the optimal operation and maintenance of all building systems and infrastructure within an IT facility. This includes managing electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, fire safety, and security systems to create a safe, efficient, and comfortable working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Management:

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot building systems like electrical distribution, HVAC, plumbing, fire safety, and security.

  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure system reliability.
  • Oversee and coordinate with vendors and contractors for maintenance and repairs.

  • Monitor and optimize energy usage to improve efficiency and sustainability.

  • Project Management:

  • Plan and execute facility improvement projects, renovations, and upgrades.

  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively.

  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

  • Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.

  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections.

  • Develop and implement emergency preparedness plans.

  • Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of system maintenance, inspections, and repairs.

  • Prepare regular reports on facility performance and project status.

  • Vendor Management:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and service providers.

  • Negotiate contracts and manage service level agreements.

  • Additional Duties:

  • Provide technical support and guidance to other departments.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and industry best practices.
  • Respond to emergencies and critical incidents.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: Bachelors degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5-10 years of experience in facilities management, preferably in an IT or data center environment.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, fire safety, and security systems.
  • Project Management Skills: Proven ability to plan and execute projects effectively.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve complex issues.
  • Teamwork Skills: Ability to work collaboratively with others.

Additional Requirements:

  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in facilities management, energy management, or safety are a plus.
  • Physical Demands: May require lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
  • Availability: May require working outside of regular business hours to respond to emergencies.
