Solar Technical Service Manager
Job Summary

The Solar Technical Service Manager will lead the service and maintenance operations of solar power systems, ensuring high performance, minimal downtime, and excellent customer satisfaction. The role involves managing a team of service engineers/technicians, handling client escalations, monitoring system performance, and coordinating with OEMs/vendors for maintenance and spare parts.

Key Responsibilities

1. Service Operations & Maintenance

  • Plan, monitor, and execute preventive and corrective maintenance for solar rooftop and ground-mounted projects.
  • Diagnose technical issues in inverters, PV panels, wiring, and monitoring systems.
  • Ensure timely resolution of service tickets and system uptime.

2. Team Leadership & Coordination

  • Lead a team of technicians and service engineers.
  • Allocate tasks, review work quality, and conduct regular performance reviews.
  • Organize technical training and workshops.

3. Client Support & Communication

  • Handle customer complaints and provide on-site/off-site technical support.
  • Coordinate warranty claims and AMC service support.
  • Prepare client reports and service summaries.

4. Site Inspections & Quality Control

  • Conduct routine site inspections for performance checks and safety compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to IEC, MNRE, and company quality standards.
  • Recommend improvements for system efficiency.

5. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain maintenance records, service logs, and technical reports.
  • Track system performance, downtime, inverter status, and energy generation data.
  • Submit monthly/quarterly service reports to management.

6. Spare Parts & Vendor Coordination

  • Manage inventory of spares, tools, and service equipment.
  • Liaise with OEMs/suppliers for replacements, upgrades, and support.

7. Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce workplace safety protocols and electrical safety norms.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and ensure 100% PPE compliance.
  • Follow statutory, electrical, and ISO standards.

8. Performance Monitoring

  • Use SCADA / remote monitoring dashboards / IoT platforms to track project health.
  • Analyze plant performance data and recommend corrective actions.

Qualifications & Skills

Education:

  • Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, or Renewable Energy.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years in solar O&M, service management, or technical support.
  • Experience with string/central inverters, PV modules, DC/AC distribution, and monitoring platforms.

Technical Skills:

  • Hands-on knowledge of solar PV maintenance, testing tools, wiring, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with AMCs, warranties, safety norms, and compliance standards.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team management.
  • Excellent communication and client handling.
  • Problem-solving and time management abilities.

Other Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel to site locations.
  • Knowledge of MS Office and monitoring software.
