**Job Summary**:
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy machinery and equipment used in construction, mining, transportation, or industrial operations. The role ensures all equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably to support smooth project operations.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Inspect and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, loaders, cranes, graders, and forklifts.
- Perform routine maintenance, lubrication, and preventive servicing on all heavy equipment.
- Repair or replace defective parts, components, and systems using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Calibrate and adjust machinery to ensure proper operation and performance.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, and technical diagrams.
- Test repaired equipment to verify proper functionality before release.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and parts used.
- Assist in troubleshooting breakdowns on-site or in the workshop.
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with safety and environmental standards.
- Report recurring mechanical issues to the supervisor for further evaluation.

**Qualifications & Requirements**:

- Technical diploma or certification in Mechanical Engineering or Heavy Equipment Maintenance.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in repairing and maintaining heavy equipment or earthmoving machinery.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmission, and electrical circuits.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment efficiently.
- Physically fit and able to work in outdoor and field environments.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to workplace safety and proper tool handling.

**Preferred Skills**:

- Experience with Caterpillar, Komatsu, Volvo, JCB, or similar equipment.
- Basic welding and fabrication skills.
- Understanding of computerized diagnostic systems (e.g., CAT ET, Cummins INSITE).
- Valid Heavy Vehicle or Equipment Operator’s License (if required).

**Work Environment**:

- Workshop, field, and construction site settings.
- May require working in shifts, overtime, or under varying weather conditions.
