Senior Data scientist/engineer

We are looking for a founder data scientist to come onboard and help define the future of outcomes-based learning at Kalvi. You will use your analytical, stats and programming skills to help chart the path of how we’ll measure progress of every student in Kalvi’s programs, and provide a quick feedback loop to them. Your progress will be measured by how fast student’s learning improves, and enable them to tap into better work opportunities.

**Responsibilities**
- Work closely with the degree program team, the product and engineering teams to define and develop methodologies to measure learning, and compute a learning path for every student in Kalvi.
- Perform data-analysis and investigations to evolve our teaching methods. You will answer questions like:

- “Will this change improve learning of a course module? How can we test it?”.
- “What method of assessment provides the quickest demonstration of course knowledge.”
- “Does a method of learning favour short term understanding, long-term, or both? How can we tune it”
- “What’s the most efficient method of delivering a course at scale”.
- Suggest experiments to evolve our learning and content systems to tune for student outcomes.
- Ideate, discover and integrate new methods of understanding student growth.
- Consistently report on aggregate progress of students against the course/program path.
- Build prototypes to explore and demo ideas.
- Be a strong voice for a data-informed point of view within our engineering, product and design organization.

**Skill and requirements**:

- You are a critical thinker with very strong attention to detail. You feed on curiosity and learning new skills.
- 3-7 years of experience in a similar role. Experience in learning/assessment systems is a bonus.
- Hands-on/strong SQL skills, and comfortable in at least one scripting or statistical programming language. You will own building and maintenance of the overall learning dashboards for the program.
- Passion and interest in building a system of learning from scratch. This is going to be your focus for years to come.
- Excellent communication: deliver findings and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and compelling fashion
- MS or PhD in a quantitative field + at least 1-2 years experience in a business environment, or BS or Data Science Bootcamp graduate + equivalent experience in a business setting considered.
