Marine Superintendent

**Key Responsibilities**:
**1. Operational Management**:
- Oversee and ensure the safe navigation and operation of Bulk vessels or Parcel chemical
tanker vessel.
- Monitor vessel performance, cargo handling, and voyage planning to ensure
efficiency and compliance with charter party agreements.
- Provide operational guidance to vessel Masters, particularly concerning Bulk vessels or
chemical cargo operations, stowage, and segregation of incompatible products.
**2. Regulatory Compliance & Safety**:
- Ensure vessels comply with international maritime regulations (SOLAS,
MARPOL, ISM, ISPS, and IBC Codes), with special attention to the handling
and transportation of hazardous chemicals or Bulk carrier vessels.
- Oversee preparation and participation in vetting inspections (SIRE, CDI) and
ensure vessels meet all customer and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct internal audits and safety inspections to verify that safety, health, and
environmental policies are strictly followed.
- Ensure compliance with the ISM and ISPS codes, and that the vessels adhere
to all statutory, class, and flag state requirements.
**3. Operations**:
- Monitor and guide cargo loading, stowage, transportation, and discharge of
chemical parcels, ensuring proper procedures for safety and product integrity.
- Ensure safe cargo handling practices, especially for hazardous and sensitive
chemical cargoes, adhering to the International Bulk Chemical (IBC) Code
and other applicable regulations.
- Assist in preparing cargo loading and discharge plans, ensuring the correct
segregation of incompatible cargoes and that cleaning requirements are met
for tank changes.
**4. Crew Management & Training**:
- Work with the vessel’s Master and officers to ensure the crew is properly
trained and competent in chemical cargo operations, safety protocols, and
emergency procedures.
- Organize and provide continuous training and professional development
programs for crew members related to the handling of bulk carrier or chemical cargoes and
safety regulations.
- Ensure crew certifications and qualifications are up to date and compliant with
flag state, industry, and company requirements.
**5. Emergency Response & Incident Management**:
- Act as the primary point of contact for the vessels in case of emergencies,
providing operational guidance and support to resolve issues promptly.
- Lead or assist in the investigation of marine accidents, cargo spills, or near
misses, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate with external emergency response agencies and regulatory bodies
in case of incidents, ensuring mínimal environmental impact and cargo loss.
**6. Vessel Inspection & Vetting**:
- Conduct regular vessel inspections to ensure compliance with company
standards, client requirements, and international safety regulations.
- Prepare vessels for external inspections, including port state control, flag state,
and vetting inspections (SIRE, CDI).
- Ensure that all non-conformities identified during inspections or audits are
addressed and resolved in a timely manner.
**7. Voyage & Cargo Management**:
- Oversee and assist the Master in planning and executing safe and efficient
voyages, considering cargo characteristics, fuel consumption, and weather
conditions.
- Coordinate with the commercial department and terminals to ensure smooth
cargo operations, proper documentation, and timely vessel turnarounds.
- Ensure that the vessel’s cargo documentation (bill of lading, safety data sheets,
cargo manifests) is accurate and compliant with regulatory and customer
requirements.
**8. Environmental & Risk Management**:
- Ensure that vessels adhere to environmental policies and regulations, including
ballast water management, emissions control, and spill prevention measures.
- Promote a safety-first culture on board and implement risk assessments and
safety management systems to mitigate operational risks, particularly when
handling hazardous chemicals or bulk carrier vessels
**9. Documentation & Reporting**:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of vessel performance, cargo
operations, and incident reports.
- Ensure that all statutory certificates and documentation (e.g., International
Pollution Prevention Certificate, Safety Management Certificate) are
maintained and renewed.
- Provide regular reports to management on vessel performance, safety, and
compliance matters.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: ₹300,000.00 - ₹500,000.00 per month
