Phlebotomist

Identifying patients and their personal information by reviewing their identity documents.

Assessing patient needs, reviewing patient history, and determining the reason(s) for drawing blood.

Selecting gauge needles and preparing veins or fingers for blood drawing.

Perform venipuncture, capillary and arterial blood collection with precision. (Pediatric & Adult)

Analyzing blood specimens using the correct testing equipment, when necessary.

Collect, label, process specimens according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Ensure patient comfort and safety during sample collection. Monitor patient reactions and provide appropriate care and support during and after the blood collection process

Handle specialized sample collection, including fasting, timed, and emergency draws.

Preparing specimens for transportation, including labelling vials accurately and matching blood specimens to patients.

Follow strict infection control and biohazard waste disposal protocols.

Maintain accurate records of all blood collections and patient interactions, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines. Also Keeping and maintaining records of the volume of blood drawn, and diagnostic findings.

Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and lab technicians for efficient workflow.

Supplying diagnostic notes to physicians, other healthcare professionals, and hospitals.

Cleaning, maintaining, and calibrating laboratory equipment used in the drawing and testing of blood specimens.

Adhere to NABL, CAP, and other healthcare regulations.

Manage and maintain phlebotomy equipment and inventory.

Ordering laboratory supplies, as needed.
