**Job Description: Social Science Teacher**

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Instruction & Curriculum Delivery**:

- Plan, prepare, and deliver well-structured lessons that align with the curriculum and meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods, including discussions, lectures, group activities, and technology-based instruction.
- Integrate real-world examples and current events to make content relevant and engaging.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback on student assignments, quizzes, and exams.
- **Student Engagement & Support**:

- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, critical thinking, and active participation.
- Identify and support individual learning needs, including providing additional help for struggling students.
- Encourage and facilitate classroom debates and discussions on social, political, and historical issues.
- **Assessment & Evaluation**:

- Design assessments that accurately reflect students' knowledge and understanding of social science concepts.
- Use a variety of formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records and communicate progress regularly with students and parents.
- **Professional Development & Collaboration**:

- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in social science education.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and school-wide activities.
- Attend faculty meetings, contribute to curriculum planning, and support school initiatives.
- **Classroom Management**:

- Establish and maintain clear expectations for student behavior and classroom procedures.
- Address behavioral issues in accordance with school policies and maintain a positive learning environment.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Science, History, Political Science, Sociology, or a related field.
- Teaching certification or license (varies by location).
- Proven experience teaching social sciences, preferably at the middle or high school level.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with educational technology tools and platforms is a plus.

**Preferred Skills**:

- Experience with differentiated instruction and curriculum development.
- Ability to engage students in critical thinking and foster analytical skills.
- Passion for social justice, diversity, and global awareness.

**Work Environment**:

- Full-time or part-time teaching position.
- Classroom-based instruction with opportunities for field trips and experiential learning.
- Collaboration with school administrators, fellow teachers, and support staff.
