**JOB DESCRIPTION DESIGN DEPARTMENT**

To succeed as a Steel furniture designer, you will need design, creative and commercial skills, as well as the confidence to work.

Working within a company, the designers are less likely to build their own designs. Rather, they design furniture based on the company specifications or standard. However, even though they are not responsible for the construction of their designs, designers must remain aware of the construction process and the feasibility of their designs as products.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

The responsibilities of designers are:

- _**PROJECT STUDY**_

Project data sheet, rough sketch, CAD file of building plan..etc., are received from the sales department. These documents are used for project study. Study the project thoroughly and discuss with the sales persons, clarify the doubts if any. The company has standard furniture’s. If the client required non-standard furniture’s, we study about the furniture. This is discussed with operation, production and sales department. After finalizing the discussion, we design the product.
- _**DRAWING**_

Drawing designs using AUTODESK software’s such as AUTOCAD& 3DS MAX + V RAY. Drawings includes2D, 3D, service pick-up, detail, section of furniture drawing & conceptual view of colored images of scientific laboratory furniture's& lab workstation. All the drawing are done as per clients requirement.

All standard and nonstandard items are drawn by us.The completed drawing is send to client via sales person. The client may or may not meet their needs. If not, they ask to make changes. Revisions are done as required. This process continues till the design meets their requirement.

If the project is approved, we may go along with concerned person for site measurement. These measurements are compared with last revised drawing. Changes are made as per the measurements if needed. We need to provide 2D, 3D, detail and service pickup drawing for approval drawing. Service pickup drawing includes water & drainage, electrical & gas. Clients may ask to make changes in approval drawing also. This is again done as revisions. Colour 3D is only done as per clients requirement.

The approved drawings are given for production.
- _**FOR TENDER**_

For tender, the requirements are given from sales department. Study the requirements. The drawings are done as per the requirements. Drawings include 2D, 3D, service pickup and detail drawings. Estimation is also done.
- _**TENDER**_

To tender is to invite _bids_ for a project, or to accept a formal offer such as a _takeover bid_. Tender usually refers to the process whereby governments and _financial institutions_ invite bids for large projects that must be submitted within a finite deadline. The term also refers to the process whereby _shareholders_ submit their shares or securities in response to a takeover offer.

Study the specification in the tender. Drawings are done as per the requirement. Initial plan, 3D, detail drawing and BOQ are created as needed.
- _**ESTIMATION**_

Once the drawing is finished, bill of quantity is extracted using Projectbizt software. Price of the non-standard items are taken before the drawing. BOQ is edited and cleared.
- _**CHECKING**_

After finishing drawing and estimation, the same is checked by the second person. If there is any mistake, corrections are done. The drawings and BOQ are send to client via sales person.
- _**FILING**_

After sending the project drawing, the details are filed. These files are used for future reference.

All the documents kept in the file should be sealed as per ISO standard. These procedures are repeated for revisions also.
