**Job Summary**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- Review patient records and medical documentation for accuracy.
- Assign correct diagnostic, procedure, and treatment codes based on medical documentation.
- Assist in preparing billing and coding reports for insurance claims.
- Work with healthcare providers to clarify any unclear documentation or coding queries.
- Ensure codes are compliant with healthcare industry standards and regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure all coding practices are HIPAA-compliant.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest updates in coding systems and regulations.
- Participate in training and development sessions to enhance coding skills.

**Qualifications**:

- A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A degree in health information management or a related field is a plus.
- Certification in **Medical Coding** (e.g., **CPC (Certified Professional Coder)** or **CCS (Certified Coding Specialist)**) is preferred but not required.
- Strong interest in healthcare, medical terminology, and coding.
- Basic understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical procedures is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills to work effectively with healthcare providers and team members.
- Ability to learn new concepts quickly and adapt to changing requirements.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and comfortable with learning new software tools.

**Preferred Skills (Not Required)**:

- Prior experience or internship in a medical office, healthcare setting, or with coding software is a plus, but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems is beneficial.
