**Position Summary**:
The System Administrator is responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT systems, ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of the systems that support the organization's IT infrastructure. The role requires a deep understanding of various operating systems, network configurations, and system security practices.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **System Installation & Configuration**:

- Install and configure hardware, software, and networks, ensuring that they operate correctly.
- Set up user accounts, permissions, and passwords.
- **Maintenance & Monitoring**:

- Monitor system performance and availability, ensuring high levels of performance, security, and reliability.
- Perform regular backups and recovery operations as needed.
- **Troubleshooting**:

- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
- Respond to system alerts and manage incidents effectively.
- Provide technical support and guidance to users.
- **Security Management**:

- Implement and maintain security policies, ensuring systems are secure from external threats.
- Monitor system access and ensure compliance with security policies.
- Manage firewalls, antivirus protection, and intrusion detection systems.
- **Documentation & Reporting**:

- Document system configurations, procedures, and processes.
- Maintain an inventory of IT assets and ensure systems are compliant with organizational standards.
- Provide reports on system performance, usage, and incidents.
- **Capacity Planning & Optimization**:

- Assess and anticipate infrastructure needs, planning for upgrades or replacements.
- Optimize systems for performance, cost-efficiency, and scalability.
- **Collaboration & Communication**:

- Work closely with other IT team members, developers, and end-users to meet the organization’s IT needs.
- Communicate effectively with non-technical users, providing them with guidance and support.

**Qualifications**:

- **Education**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- **Experience**:

- Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar role.
- Experience with virtualization, cloud computing, and various operating systems (Windows, Linux, UNIX).
- Familiarity with databases, networks (LAN, WAN), and patch management.
- **Technical Skills**:

- Knowledge of system security (e.g., intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery.
- Experience with monitoring tools and system performance tuning.
- **Soft Skills**:

- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

**Work Environment**:

- Office-based with occasional on-call duties for system emergencies.
