**Job Title**:SQL Database Administrator

**Job Overview**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Database Management**:

- Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases.
- Monitor and maintain database performance, ensuring high availability and efficient data retrieval.
- Ensure regular backups, updates, and patches for SQL Server instances.
- Implement and maintain database security measures, including encryption and access controls.
- **Performance Optimization**:

- Analyse database performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize queries, indexing, and database structures.
- Implement and monitor indexing strategies for optimal query performance.
- Use performance tuning techniques to optimize large datasets and complex queries.
- **Backup and Recovery**:

- Design and implement robust backup and recovery strategies.
- Perform regular backup validation and disaster recovery tests.
- Ensure data consistency and integrity during recovery processes.
- **Database Security**:

- Implement security measures to protect sensitive data, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
- Manage user roles, permissions, and audit logs to control database access.
- Regularly review database security and access controls.
- **Troubleshooting and Support**:

- Provide 24/7 support for database-related incidents, troubleshooting and resolving issues.
- Address database-related incidents such as performance degradation, downtime, or failures.
- **Documentation & Reporting**:

- Maintain accurate documentation of database architecture, configurations, and procedures.
- Generate regular performance reports and provide recommendations for system improvements.
- **Collaboration and Training**:

- Provide guidance and training to junior DBAs and other stakeholders on SQL best practices.

**Qualifications**:

- **Education**: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- **Experience**:

- Minimum of [X] years of experience as an SQL Database Administrator or in a similar role.
- Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server (versions [e.g., 2012/2016/2019]).
- Experience in database performance tuning, query optimization, and high-availability solutions (e.g., Always On, clustering).
- Knowledge of database replication, log shipping, and other disaster recovery techniques.
- Familiarity with database monitoring tools (e.g., SQL Profiler, Redgate, SolarWinds).
- **Skills**:

- Proficient in T-SQL, stored procedures, triggers, and other SQL programming techniques.
- Strong understanding of database architecture and design.
- Experience with cloud-based SQL databases (e.g., Azure SQL Database, AWS RDS) is a plus.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python for automation tasks.
- Knowledge of Linux/Unix environments is a plus.
