As part of one CGIAR initiative, IRRI is partnering with other CGIAR institutes such as CIMMYT, IFPRI, CIP and IWMI in implementing a large project on “Transforming Agri-Food Systems in South Asia’ (TAFSSA)”, the One CGIAR South Asia Regional Integrated Initiative. Working across South Asia, TAFSSA will deliver a coordinated program of research and engagement across the food production-to-consumption continuum to improve equitable access to sustainable healthy diets, improve farmer livelihoods and resilience, and conserve land, air, and groundwater resources.

Home to one-quarter of humanity, South Asia has the world’s largest concentration of poverty and malnutrition. The region’s agri-food systems today face formidable poverty reduction, climate change adaptation and mitigation, environmental health and biodiversity challenges. Significant hurdles remain to securing an adequate and affordable supply of diverse foods necessary for sustainable healthy diets (SHDs). Social, economic, and geographic inequalities create barriers from production to consumption, disproportionately affecting the poor. Unhealthy food consumption is rising, with many nutritious foods too costly for the poor. Through coordinated efforts to transform agri-food systems in ways that ensure that people can equitably access and consume healthy diets produced within environmental boundaries, while also securing livelihoods and reducing poverty. Food systems are urgently needed that generate profits and incentivize farmers to produce nutritious foods, while also reducing prices for consumers purchasing healthy products by shortening and reducing inefficiencies within value chains. These objectives — which are also governmental and donor priorities in Bangladesh, Nepal, India, and Pakistan — require coordinated research and action across the public and private sector. In response, TAFSSA will partner across sectors to generate actionable evidence spanning the production-to-consumption continuum. TAFSSA will also amplify the effects of other CGIAR Initiatives working in South Asia to achieve productive, environmentally sound agrifood systems that support equitable access to healthy diets.

**This position will be based in Bihar and may only be filled in by permanent citizens of India.**

**Roles and Responsibilities**:

- Collect regular data and information from different market actors including consumers, and farmers
- Execute routine field work including activities of smallholder aggregation models
- Support in implementing training and other field level activities
- Support other project activities
- Work with project team for regular support and field activities;
- Interact with targeted farmers for necessary information, data, and implementation of activities
- Regularly update supervisors and line managers about the field level activities;
- Actively support project team in implementation of the project activities; and
- Support in institute wide activities as and when required
- Organize field level materials required for implementation of the activities.
- Collect and compile required data from the field and different markets
- Support in organizing field level farmers’ training and awareness programs
- Support in imparting information to farmers
- Timely completion of the planned activities

**Qualifications**:
Intermediate in science with 4-5 years of work experience in household data collection in rural areas and market surveys using CAPI tools.

**Skills Required**:
**Mandatory**
- Experience support services in training and awareness programs
- Experience in office related work; data collection using Kobo tool box and other CAPI tools
- Basic knowledge of MS Office programs such as Word and Excel

**Preferred**
- Working experience national/international research organization

In addition to the Base Salary indicated above, IRRI also offers the following listed allowances:

- **House-Rent Allowance**:IRRI provides a house rent allowance of 40% of base pay per month.
- **Transport Allowance**:A monthly transport allowance is provided to NRS as below: NRS L2: INR 2,000
- **Dearness Allowance**:One Hundred and Thirteen percent (113%) of employee’s base pay.
- **Leave Travel Allowance (LTA)**:One-month base pay per annum, on availing minimum 2 days of vacation leave
- **Education Allowance**:INR 1000/- per child per month (limited 2 children)
