**ABOUT THE ORGANISATION**
**One in every 50, over 26 million individuals in India has Intellectual and Developmental**
**Disability (IDD). **In spite of this colossal number, they are stigmatized and are considered less deserving and are unable to access the resources that they need to achieve their full potential. **Within the disabilities space, IDD seems to be the most invisible. **They continue to be excluded from India’s mainstream development narrative, experiencing widespread violations of their rights.
**Founded in 1944, we are one of the oldest & largest not for profit institutes in India serving children & adults with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (IDD). **Over the past 77 years, **we have touched the lives of lakhs of children & their families.** We are committed to looking at each child with a belief in their potential to lead fuller and more inclusive lives.
**We serve over 700 Individuals annually who have IDD** and may have other related disabilities such as autism, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, visual &/or hearing impairment. **We have our campus in Mumbai and rural branches at Deolali & Talegaon.**
**Job Role: Social Worker**
**Location: Mumbai**
**Reporting To: Head - Healthcare**
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Guidance in admission process**
Scrutiny of relevant documentation, guidance for obtaining UDID, disability certificate and the admission process
**Assessment**
Understanding and documenting socio economic, medical, educational status of student/ artisan and other relevant history from parents and other members during initial assessment
**Intervention**
Guide and counsel parents in finding support services for developmentally
/intellectually challenged individuals.
Conducting home visits and community visits.
Conducting parent awareness/ support meetings at JVF
Maintain key documents of all students including sponsorship students: updating files, creating reports for the organization, annual reports. Conducting home visits within timelines once sponsorship forms are received.
Orienting the parents to different government concessions and schemes: facilitate parents in procuring and renew **Niramaya **health insurance, support with claims as needed
Orienting the parents to the need for **legal guardianship** and support them in obtaining the same for their child/ ward
Working in association with social welfare department and district collector’s office to carry out required activities of the local level committee of National Trust
Meticulous documentation of work done
**Resource mapping**
Create and maintain a directory for agencies, hospitals and employers JVF works with and networking with them as and when required.
**Other**
Attending medical camps for JVF
**Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications**
Masters in Social Work with 3-5 years of work experience including working with children with disabilities.
Strong coordination skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with attention to detail and time management perspective.
Can speak fluent English, Hindi and Marathi
**Salary**: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
