Qualification & Required Experience:
Requisite Qualification:
Mandatory
- Doctorate in bioinformatics, microbiology, molecular biology, or a related field.
- Research Areas: Bioinformatics, microbial ecology, Soil ecology, agricultural and forest ecosystems.
- Proficiency in data analysis using Python or R
- Experience in sequence analysis, comparative genomics, genome assembly, and statistical analysis.
- Demonstrated excellence in research and teaching through scholarly publication.

Desired
- Postdoctoral research experience or equivalent
- Secured at least one major research grant; has the ability to secure external research grants.
- Collaborative mindset and willingness to work in interdisciplinary teams.
- Ability to communicate in local languages (e.g., Hindi or Marathi, Kanada) or work with translators.
- Willingness to travel to Karnataka, Bhopal and Kutch based on the project designed.
- Strong communication skills

Job Description/ Responsibilities
- Set up and maintain a dedicated research-consultancy-outreach ‘omics’ lab, analyzing microbial populations and their interactions with other organisms and the environment.
- Develop a rigorous research program in bioinformatics, focusing on microbial ecology, evolution, and genomics.
- Establish partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to address challenges in soil health and sustainability.
- Guide PhD students and mentor them in coursework related to genomics and proteomics.

Participate in teaching with other sister institutes, including developing and tutoring courses, workshops, and certificate programs in metagenomics and related Omics-based topics at SIRAC.
