Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Junior Scientist in Bioinformatics based out of Mumbai. The Junior Scientist will be responsible for conducting bioinformatics analyses, developing pipelines for genomic data interpretation, and collaborating with research teams to deliver actionable insights. The role involves working with large genomic datasets, maintaining data accuracy, and contributing to innovative projects in healthcare diagnostics. The candidate will also have the opportunity to learn and implement the latest bioinformatics tools and techniques.

Job Description

·       Have motivation to learn new things.

·       Analysis of clinical exome samples.

·       Demonstrate clear understanding of genomics workflow.

·   Understanding of databases used in clinical genetics like HPO, population databases, gene-disease databases, variant databases, etc.

·       Understanding of different disease ontologies and correlations that are currently used by KB and its implication.

·       Maintenance of TAT for clinical reporting

·       Contribute as a submitter on variant databases like ClinVar.

·       Creating SOPs for each bioinformatics process.

·       Maintenance of confidentiality of patient data.

·       Assist Senior Bioinformatician for work.

·       Maintenance of internal patient databases.

·       Maintenance of sample statistics and logs.

·       Have motivation to read new articles to identify new challenges and solutions that are required to be handled.

·       Understanding of at least 1 programming language like python, Perl, java, R.

·   Develop and test the new bioinformatics workflows related to clinical genetics

·       Management of internal NGS pipeline including maintenance.

Educational Qualification:

M.Sc. in Bioinformatics

Work Experience:

0-2 years
