The Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) works with cities
worldwide to promote transport solutions that reduce traffic congestion, air pollution, and
greenhouse emissions while improving urban livability and economic opportunity. ITDP is
a not-for-profit organisation headquartered in New York City with offices in China, Brazil,
India, Indonesia, East Africa, Mexico, and the United States.

Since 2021, ITDP is represented in India by ITDP Pvt. Ltd. and has worked with
governments, multilateral agencies, and civil society to make visible, on-the-ground
improvements by providing technical expertise, policy solutions, research publications,
and training programmes.

About the position
We are looking to hire a **GIS Intern - Transport Systems **interested in research on transport
urban transport systems and services while exposing the accessibility gaps in the existing
Electric Mobility team in Chennai and Pune.
- Qualification and Essential Attributes- An undergraduate degree in transport planning, urban planning, or other relevant
- fields. A post-graduate degree in a similar discipline will be an advantage.- QGIS, ERDAS, MapInfo and other geospatial software skills are essential.
- Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills are required.
- Excellent graphic skills to effectively communicate ideas
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Excellent English writing and editing skills
- Excellent Marathi or Tamil reading and speaking skills will be an advantage
- Familiarity with spatial analysis, public transport and other aspects of sustainable
- transport.- Strong time-management and organisational skills
- Ability to maintain high standards while contributing pragmatic ideas

Roles and Responsibilities:
The employee shall work closely with the Associates and report to the Programme
Manager
- Transport Systems and Electric Mobility. The primary responsibilities are given
below, but the inter may be required to perform additional tasks even if they are not
explicitly mentioned.
- Creation of transit and socio-economic database on GIS
- Use GIS data to carry out spatial analysis and prepare maps and graphics
- Liaise with government agencies and civil society organisations to obtain
- secondary datasets.- Plan and coordinate surveys and other data collection exercises and process the

data

How to apply

Remuneration:
The remuneration for this position shall be ₹ 30,000 per month. Salary shall be
commensurate with experience and skills.
