About the opportunity

A Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of an organization's databases. They ensure that the databases are secure, reliable, and efficient, and that the data is easily accessible to users.
What you’ll get to do
- Provide administration and support for mission critical prod and pre-production database environments.
- Provide 24x7 on-call administration and support.
- Work with client support, developers and IT personnel to resolve daytime and after-hours support issues in a timely manner and as required by service level agreements.
- Perform and manage daily database maintenance, monitoring and performance tuning tasks/jobs.
- Identify and document performance and scaling improvements to R&D.
- Manage storage environments for database data, logs and backups including optimization, monitoring space and providing growth statistics.
- Assist in the design and implementation of security, auditing and integrity controls.
- Actively discuss, review, and recommend technical options and activities with the team.
- Use multiple automation languages to automate distinct manual intervention tasks.

Skills and experience we value
- At least 5 - 7 years of recent experience maintaining and administrating mission-critical database environments.
- Installing and configuring database management systems (DBMS) such as Oracle DB - 12c, 18c & 19c (primary), MongoDB, and Microsoft SQL Server DB.
- Ensuring database security and integrity by implementing access controls, backups, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Monitoring and optimizing database performance by tuning queries, indexing, and other techniques.
- Planning and implementing database upgrades and migrations to ensure compatibility and performance.
- Creating and maintaining documentation and procedures for database administration and usage.
- Troubleshooting database issues and resolving user support requests, managing database backups, data archiving and disaster recovery procedures.

**Skills and Abilities**:

- Expert in Oracle Database Administration as primary (Oracle DBA)
- Excellent Mongo DB or MSSQL DB as secondary
- Automation language skills on Python as primary.
- Automation language skills on PowerShell as secondary.
- Effective communication with team members.
- Works well individually and within at team.
- Ability to conduct research into database issues and products and present ideas in a business-appropriate and user-friendly language.
