**Description**

An urban planner is a professional who helps to design and develop cities, towns, and other urban areas. Their job involves analyzing land use patterns, studying the local economy, and assessing the needs of the local community in order to create plans for how the area can be improved. Urban planners work with developers, architects, and local officials to make sure that new developments are in line with the community's needs and vision. They also play an important role in sustainability planning, making sure that new developments are environmentally friendly and promote the use of public transportation and other eco-friendly modes of transportation.

**Responsibilities**:

- Prepare plans.
- Conduct inspections.
- Prepare site approval documents.
- Coordinate with other local governments.
- Create and interpret maps and diagrams.
- Meet with public officials and the public regarding development plans and land use.
- Recommend approval or denial of proposals.
- conduct on-site investigations to determine factors affecting community development and potential decline including land usage.
- Account for traffic growth and manage solutions for common transportation needs.
- Research best practices to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions from local businesses and warehouses.
- Oversee project development and help in providing affordable housing.
- Plan and design townships and cities promoting healthy and active lifestyles.
- Protect and preserve historical monuments and sites.
- Assist in planning and reviving low socio-economic areas within the district.
- Meet with industry experts to determine appropriate Disaster Risk Assessment plans for Emergency Management.

**Duties**
- Analyze data concerning current uses and long-term needs related to city land; analysis will consider all populations of the city, and identify needs as they pertain to schools, health care facilities, correctional facilities, open-space planning, and housing facilities for homeless, low-income, and elderly residents.
- Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of redevelopment plans implemented in other cities; identify which parts of those plans could be modified to address the city's needs.
- Create technical and aesthetic designs intended to make the best use of available land.
- Recommend prioritized solutions to address city needs.
- Consult with land developers, civic leaders, and public officials.
- Identify ways to maximize public benefits from private development projects.
- Create, compile, organize, or otherwise prepare materials for community relation meetings.
- Present and defend recommendations and plans to the city council, planning commission, and other legislative committees to secure approval and financing necessary to implement plans.
- Act as a mediator in public disputes.
- Provide supervision and conduct audits to ensure developments comply with financial and other specifications.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

**Skills**
- A master's degree in urban or regional planning from a program accredited by the Planning Accreditation Board generally is required.
- Ability to analyze demographic data and identify trends in employment, health and other areas.
- Experience working in various database software programs including Microsoft Suite.
- Exceptional communication skills used when meeting with officials and presenting new plans.
- Detailed understanding of federal and local government programs and processes.
- Experience utilizing geographic information systems (GIS) software.
- Ability to conceptualize large-scale plans and establish required milestones to complete projects.
- Professional work experience using a combination of creative and technical concepts in problem-solving.
- Full-scale understanding of the social and environmental effects of proposed plans and the best practices in design aesthetics
- Proven negotiation skills and the ability to create consensus.
- Ability to clearly and persuasively present ideas.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Regular / Permanent, Fresher, Freelance
Contract length: 12 months

**Salary**: ₹14,997.02 - ₹65,450.18 per month
