It is a leadership position at University level that requires acting as a catalyst in research promotion and development and publication culture.

The Dean facilitates Doctoral Degree Programme offered in Management, Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Basic Sciences, etc. and the various schools campuses and in conjunction with other research institutions of National/International repute offer research workshops and courses. He/She directs the faculty in planning and securing resources, evaluating and implementing activities for the research program, and managing the procurement of funds from various sources. Also serves as a University representative, in Ph.D Committees of Schools and actively participates in various Institutional planning, implementing, and evaluating research activities, organizing workshops, seminars, etc. on research funding & grants.

IIT/NIT/IIM/IISC graduates will have an added advantage. Knowledge of Advanced Research Methods multi-disciplinary research is required in this position.

In 1981, Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVKM) established Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) to meet the growing demand for management education. In 2003, NMIMS was declared a deemed to be university under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956. The Vision of the University is to be a globally admired University by 2030. The Mission of NMIMS is to emerge as a Centre of Excellence, best in class in India and Asia and yearning to be the best in the world by 2030.
